I have such feelings about the Dugger girls. I'm 100% pro-free Jinger. That girl is awesome, and it would break my heart if her father sells her to the nearest available fundie boy the second she even thinks of moving out, the way he did with Jessa. Also heartbreaking: the oldest Dugger girl Jana, deeply wanted to be a NeoNatal ICU Nurse. It was her dream, but you know, girls can't go to college! So no nursing school for her.

That's prity fucking sad, it's a hard but admirable choice of job but nope fundamentalist bigotry from her own family non the less shut that down. Fucking sickens me that kind of crap goes on in the 21'st century western world.

Basically, its when you believe certain people are forcing a leftwing ideology down your throat. My school experiences suggested that while some school teachers did like to use their position to preach politics, they were rare.
I had the opposite here. I had a really conservative teacher and I was in highschool in 2008 when Obama was inaugurated. He was really unhappy about it and made sure we all knew. I never had any teachers who I knew were left-wing preach anything besides the school system had a "systemic necrosis" internally, and my district is and was routinely ranked in the top 50% of public schools for service, and a bit higher, academically.

My experiences in high school were that right wing agendas were the ones being pushed by teachers and faculty. At least it was by the ones who promoted their opinions and views in the classroom. That kinda stunk for me, because the ones who were a bit more moderate or liberal were less vocal and I'd get the odd wink from them when I spoke up.

Anyway, homeschooling doesn't have to be bad. There's nothing wrong with teaching your kids your values and I don't believe you have to be super educated to be a good teacher to your own kids. It's just a matter of finding a good source to teach the subjects you yourself might not be strong in. As long as you can produce a child that can function socially and knows a bit about a bit, go for it.

I fucking hate these types of people. Being from the South and working in Republican politics, I interact with them almost constantly. The kids are always these weird, socially awkward loons who don't have any clue how to think for themselves and try to push their (or rather, their parents') worldview onto everyone else. If (and that's a big "if") the kids are allowed to go to college and it isn't Liberty University or Bob Jones or some worthless, unaccredited school like that, they either never make friends or they rebel hard.

There's one guy from a fairly prominent family of this type that's known for being musicians. I've never really talked to him, but we're aware of one another. He's a few years younger than me, and I've met him two times over the past four years. The first time was in November 2010, where he was performing at the Governor-elect's victory party with his family. The second time was at a Halloween party in 2013 at a local bar which had been rented out. He was dressed as Bane and drunk off his ass.

Another fun story about these types involves a guy I interned with in DC a few years back. He was either a freshman or sophomore at Bob Jones, had just gotten engaged to his girlfriend, who was a home ec major (which still apparently exists there; they broke up about a year later), and was just weird and sexist as fuck. He was a bible thumper and probably the most socially awkward person I had ever met. He would always try to ask female interns to do things that he had been told to do, and would refuse to pick up after himself, expecting female interns and staffers to do it for him. Everyone fucking hated him, and we would make fun of him during lunch.

The thing that gets me about the Duggars is not that they have a big family, it's that the older daughters take on the responsibility of caring for the younger ones (this seems to be common with the Quiverfulls? There is, or was, another show about a similar family called the United Bates of America, I think). Those poor women can't even enjoy their youth when they're having to teach and care for their younger siblings, and seem like they have no time to themselves. Mind you, I don't think the lifestyle's great for women in general, but the Duggar daughters specifically seem so worn-out. :( I had no idea about the Maxwells though -- that's even creepier. Creepy beyond creepy.

The Pearls, on the other hand, are downright horrifying. Even if they don't practice what they preach (I hope that they don't), there are cases of children dying as a result of parents using their disciplinary techniques. (Please don't click that link if you want to enjoy the rest of your night. It's horribly depressing.) I have no idea how no charges have ever been laid against them, it truly boggles the mind. :\

especially poor Jana Duggar. She had to mind the all the little kids and sew Jill's wedding dress AND Jessa's bridesmaid's dresses. All of them. All while not going to nursing school like she wanted too.

I have a lot of feelings about Jana Duggar. She seems really, deeply unhappy, and that makes me so sad. I just sense that there's tragedy waiting to happen with her.

And yes the Pearl's are scary monster people who probably eat their young.

With these families I feel bad for the brainwashed children, but especially the girls. It probably doesn't take long for boys to get on board because, unless they're gay or want to pursue "traditional" female activities/jobs, they can do whatever. But the girls are doomed to be obedient baby machines from day one. I imagine they have no idea what they would do if given the opportunity to wear clothes that haven't been father-approved, or attend public school, or see a non G-rated movie. Aside from quickly mumbling the propaganda drilled into their heads by their father.

Remeber ladies, you MUST have sex with your husband when ever he wants regardless of your own feelings. Tummy ache? Nope, time to bone. Exhausted? Tough shit, you OWE your husband your body. Just not in the mood? Don't even think about it, you family ruining feminazi!
I just love how she's "impure" 40 days after giving birth to a boy but 80 days if it's a girl. Romance my ass. I can only imagine the trouble she'd be in if she somehow managed to commit the "sin" of achieving an orgasm during sex.

So much hate...

The way religion in general treats Women is bad, I am not saying every religious person thinks that way far from it but in the western world in this day an age for anything other than a few isolated incidents is nothing but shocking.

It's one thing to have a large family go for it if you want it an can afford it an are more important if you can handle the responsibility for the children. From time to time letting you older son or daughter take care of the younger Children for a few hours every now an then can be a good thing but when it comes to the point where you treat your kids as indentured servants raising there siblings who can't do the important things a teen needs to do to grow up and become a functioning member of society it's abuse plane and simple.

The quiver full movement take that one step further than just using the kids as free daycare, they actively inhibit there Child's life one they become a adult. I mean seriously they treat women who want to be more than a home maker as some sort of unholy crime, if I ever have kids an one day my daughter said to me "dad I want to go to university an become a doctor" I would be nothing short of boiling over with pride. But no they berate them into backing down, less so with men but if it's a woman they ratchet the crazy up a notch or three, I mean if it was a case of "Dad I want to become a hooker" I could understand (using excessive amounts of hyperbole here) I could understand the crazy but when it's a profession like medicine and for the most vulnerable people not just in society but as a species it boggles the mind, I mean in this case it is showing a parental instinct that they have beaten into there child it's spread beyond the family group... Then again it involves education an educated people question things and the church can't handle that.

What's baffled me for a long time and it's something I have put some thought into is, why the demonisation of Sex specifically enjoying it. It's perplexing because having a healthy sexlife is important in a relationship.
The theory I have come up with is "When people are having fun, they are less likely to follow the rules" and the church can't have that.

From a decidedly outsiders view of groups like this, the movement is baffling.

You want to hear something extra depressing? I was reading an article on No Longer Qivering where a woman who grew up in this life said that since she had to raise her younger siblings they considered her their mother. Apparently this is quite common. So when these older girls move out to get married or to go to Patriarchy approved colleges, the younger children feel like they're being abandoned by a parent.

Speaking of crazy shutins, meet a womanchild who wouldn't even touch her fiance until she was married. They even had a six inch courtship ruler.

But wait! If they can't touch, how did her fiance put the engagement ring on her finger? Oh, easy: Her dad put in on her when her fiance proposed to her.At Arby's.

Those engagement photos are very Chris Chandlerian.

She looks like Peggy Hill without the sass. Reading her blog makes me wonder how anybody could be happy living like her.

Pearl claiming his children will be successful, and the bosses of those who are not raised by his methods:

This would imply that either your child doesn't lack the social graces to reach a position of authority in a normal person institution, or that normal people are all clamoring to get into your family soap making companies.

Both seem unlikely.

It would also imply that the kids don't die at the hands of their parents before reaching adulthood. I'll give that one a.... 7 in 10 ratio?

Heyo.

But half the fun of a relationship is holding them in your arm.

The other half is making them squeal.

The homeschooling part, from my personal experience.

I would never have kids, but if I did I would want to homeschool. The culteral marxism is going way to far. I mean, fine. Be gay/lesbian/bi, fine....that's their business....but pushing it like they do.
When I was in school Michael Moore movies in social studies. These teachers are being like the Christians they hate so much. I was frustrated and wanted to learn things, NOT about what Micheal Moore thinks.

The public school system is such shit. This year we had a Provincial teachers strike. Bitching and moaning about their $85,000 yearly salaries. Pul-eeze. There are Doctors cleaning out drain pipes due to shit economy and prosecuting attorneys getting paid $35,000 annually. My dad and I who works in landscaping/construction have had it hard. I had threats verbal and pysical put against me for "taking jobs away from others" than teachers whining that they don't get paid in the summer......

Cry me a fucking river.....silly public teachers, and that's just one part of it. A lot of kids in that community are homeschooled because of the whineyness.

That kind of shit scares me. That level of entitlement. The kids seeing the teachers do that. Kids being around that kind of shit. Not cool. Kids were upset and wanted to move on with their fucking lives.

I wish my public school teacher wife made $85k a year. We don't even make that much with my income factored in.
