r/antiwork - Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.

How will society function without jobs?

They're shooting themselves in the foot. If I was hiring and I saw this sort of idiotic protest on a potential employee's social media, no way would I hire them. While I agree that the Protestant work ethic sometimes goes too far, this isn't good either.

This thread reminded me of an old tweet that apparently allot of gullible idiots loved

There is definite legitimate claims made in some of the content posted. People just write this off because of the name of the subreddit. There are some very good golden nuggets of information in there. One of these things is ''fake job postings'' from companies and that's only the beginning. White collar jobs these days are known for having impossible standards for entry level employees like already wanting several years of experience from them before hire, needing to speak 3-4 languages et.. But this also extends to the trade and working class. Trucking companies are now looking for people with more than a ''decade'' of experience to work as a long haul trucker.

So what does this all likely indicate? this is without question gate keeping. There are barricades being placed up for the young to enter the workforce in ways that have never been done before. Young people entering the workforce post graduation whether that's university, college or highschool at any collar white or blue was simply a normal process of life.

/r/antiwork has been growing explosively over the past two weeks due to some posts hitting reddit's front page (said posts being screencaps of people telling their shitty boss to go fuck themselves).

That's the dilemma with this place. A lot of the posts are people lamenting having to work a shitty job to stay afloat and getting nothing out of it. Nobody likes working shit jobs, especially if said shit job's benefits all go to enriching a cunt like Jeff Bezos. Nobody wants that garbage, and no one is going to complain if all the barriers and ridiculous requirements and corporate politics disappeared overnight. If the message the place was pushing came down to better wages and working conditions & taking people like Bezos / Zuckerberg / Buffet / Soros / etc down a peg, then there'd be little reason to dislike it.

At the end of the day though, the sub is run and infested by anarkiddie bums and neocommies hoping to convert people to their ideology. That's not going away from there, ever.

Yeah, it's called r/antiwork not r/ineedagoodjob.
I'd like to know how these people think all of humanity supported themselves for all time? Because nobody likes being a subsistence farmer, but we like it more than starving todeath.

On one hand, this is great, because we can point and laugh.

On the other, this is great because that's about 518,000 people I'm not wasting time competing with for jobs.

Some fun threads. It's nice that the anti-workers waste so much time getting worked up online.

If these people had a job or at the very least a constructive hobby they simply wouldn't have time to dedicate all their energy into sperging about how WORK BAD REE.
Ever since the dawn of Man, everyone was busy, there was a struggle, a natural struggle for survival. To put it bluntly, if you didn't hunt, you didn't eat
Fast forward to the present day and all your basic needs are taken care of without you even having to lift a finger. You have a roof over your head, with heating and luxuries. Hot food made with minimal effort (most of these people eat out more times a month than I do in a year and if not that, they just throw everything into a microwave). I'd imagine these people live off some sort of government handout if they've even moved out of their parent's house at all.
There is no struggle, there is no stress, there is no need to fight, there is no need to focus your energy into anything at all.
Humans haven't evolved to live like that and we probably never will. We need some sort of struggle or purpose to keep our minds satiated.
In this state of sheer convenience and comfort your belly might be full at all times but your body is getting ever fatter and your mind ever duller.

So the solution? Resorting to making up a struggle, making up something to worry about, in this case it's "Ugh! Why should we work? That's like... Slavery bro!"
You can more or less apply this to most reddit/tumblr tier worries and first world problems. From becoming a fucking multi gendered demiqueer faglord to unironically LARPing as a communist. These people are so taken care of they revert back into a state of infantile screeching.
And for the few among them that actually have a job, it's probably their first. It's likely they just got out of college with a degree in God knows what with minimal life experience and even less connections. Baby's first job is rarely something you're over the moon about, but putting the least amount of effort in just to get by rewards you with some pay at the end of the month, no?
They just don't realize that life isn't a fucking Animal Crossing simulator, it's more grindy than that. But they'll waste any potential they have in sperging over things they consider an issue. Not one of them has a solution that isn't "just tax the rich and like... Give everyone free money, bro!"

The antiwork sentiment fucking rules. Everyone should become indolent and lazy because work fucking sucks.

Pensions are gone, rent is sky high. Social mobility is largely a pipe dream. We should honestly normalize working the exact bare minimum. Before, there was at least some reason to work hard. Now? Bust your hump and maybe you'll break even. This kind of social stagnation is what made communist countries so miserable to live in.

Yeah, work has built society. But we've never had so many pointless jobs. It's absolutely disgusting watching petty tyrants rag on the underpaid for missing imaginary metrics.

My ex was one of these people and he couldn't stay employed. Or, stay a not-single person, cuz it's not like he worked hard at home. I wasn't put up w that shit. I did the majority of labor for remodeling. And it was labor, framing, the roof, some pouring.

Lazy at work And lazy at home, gee, how would any bitch predict that? Well had I known his views on this Ida Never.

I'm just gonna blame feminism.

If you can't do the bare minimum to stay employed that's on you. What I mean is that if forced to work, you should only do the bare minimum required. Never go above and beyond.

You have to pay your rent and taxes, which is unfortunate but it's life. You don't have to buy into the protestant work ethic and glorify working hard.

The one thing capital can't take from you are the experiences you cultivate in your free time. Work less at work and redirect the energy to something meaningful.
