It's especially odd considering Pit bulls that aren't raised by the owners that use them for what they were bred for tend to turn out to be one of the kindest and sweetest types of dog breeds. Certainly better than chihuahuas or mountain feists.

All the hundreds of baby killings by pitbulls and it never causes a shitshow for them, so that would be really unfair. Anytime you see news or posts one of these beasts kill a human being, other shitbull owners come to defend them with "oh its the owner" "oh he didnt mean to" "muh nanny dogs" and I have also seen crazy shit like moms having their child be mauled and barely survive, and writing a long emotional obituary to the fuckin DOG when it gets put down.

There was one in my neighborhood who had puppies. No one knew who the father was. Could have been a coyote. Her name was Miss Hankie. Guess why.

I wish lol. I'm Canadian and most stray dogs I know of live in feral packs on native reserves. The SPCA and legal system is really harsh on people who neglect their dogs (off reserve). The police will be all in your business if you just let your dog free off your property. I've definitely seen stray cats though. That TNR shit for feral/stray cats is big here but I've heard the evidence isn't great.
Even among the browns I dont recall feral dog populations. Every so often you'd see the occasional stray clearly abandoned but actual long term stray/feral dogs? Never seen it anywhere ive lived in the US.
Large swaths of Detroit are literally taken over by packs of feral dogs. And I don't mean the simians.
Probably an improvement from the large troops of monkeys that control much of Detroit.
