They're not doing what I want that's correct, but they are not doing what their voters wanted, for the most part at least. They are doing what people like Trump, Musk, Thiel, and every other billionaire want them to do. Of course you haven't got the brain power to realize that. They're not uncovering government corruption, they just keep reposting stuff from USAspending.gov and act like they have uncovered some grand conspiracy. And yes, just ravaging several government agencies (especially ones that are important to government oversight and protecting consumers) is shitting their pants and pissing down your throat.
And yes you're getting to the core of the problem here. Decades of thousands of politicians and their votes and decision has made the government a jumbled mess, but it also works for a reason, and it was created to work. One person cannot do the job of several people, we saw this after COVID and companies firing workers and making one do more work than one person can handle. Those rich assholes that they put in place have made their goals clear, tax the poor, stop taxing the rich, more money of me, no money for thee. There are rich people who know that libertarianism doesn't build up the poor, but these are not the guys.

Is there any actual fucking oversight into who has access to treasury department systems when it's not musk? Because the glowies on /r/fednews are absolutely seething over how OBVIOUSLY ILLEGAL it is that Musk's cronies have access to those systems, and I can agree that he is a dunning-kreuger who will probably fuck something up, but at the same time I don't think anybody knows how many glowies have access to those systems or how trustworthy/competent they are, and the feds have a massive leak of private data to the chinese every couple of years anyways.

I don't think these people understand that their authority is delegated to them by the president, they're not a fourth branch of government and they're not even elected.

Update: wife got a letter on Friday saying that any correspondence she recieved concerning her employment potentially being terminated was done in error and to keep up the good work.

Maybe that employee efficiency number they all get is actually being used for once. She works for two while others in the office barely do the work of half a person according to the metrics.

We want good government workers. We can't keep good workers when we keep rewarding the laziest of us with more time off and less responsibility. Hard workers like to work, but don't like to be taken advantage of.

If that one dickhead who was on Doge can get fired for making racist tweets in the past then we ought to be able to fire every feddittor who compares losing his job to the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the systematic murder of millions of ethnic minorities with the stated goal of eliminating them from Germany's gene pool. Anybody who believes this is comparable to losing your sweet internship promoting non-binary gender identities in Guatemalan high society is effectively committing Holocaust denial.

There's something especially :neckbeard: about bitching about how evil Christians are re: Buddhist Myanmar aid workers leaving Muslim patients to fend for themselves after their USAID money ended. Neither Christians nor Muslims can hold government positions in Myanmar, and no Islamic country is going to bail out other Muslims from a different country.

I don't really consider myself a christian these days so whenever somebody makes this argument I innocently pretend to miss the point and instead tell them that I believe in separation of church and state. On plebbit they'll just downvote you and explain the point they're trying to make because they have time to think it over, but if you do it IRL or on discord/etc they always sound embarrassed and stammer around trying to figure out how to explain it because they think that I think that *they're* the religious nutjobs and not the republicunts.

Trump ran in 2016, 2020, and 2024 on "Draining the swamp" and now that he has the popular mandate, and now with others in his administration that aren't actively trying to sabotage his every move, he's accomplishing exactly what he promised. Draining the swamp, legislating trannies out of existence, ending DEI initiatives, and cutting off rhe flow of endless gibs. This is exactly what Trump/MAGA supporters, and really anyone with common sense, should want. That it happens to align with some of the desires of people like Elon Musk or Peter Thiel is besides the point. The government is supposed to be subservient to the people they represent, not actively undermining them and spending our money on tranny surgeries and LGBTQOMGTWTFBBQ+ programs in some 3rd world shithole.

I personally do believe that a lot of its changes will be a 50/50 at best. Money will be funneled into new avenues.

What new agency has Trump created to replace USAID? What new initiative has been instituted in the place of DEI? What massive hiring spree has started to install new stooges? If your argument is that DOGE is Trump's new swamp, then you are a few fries short of a happy meal. DOGE is aimed at the government, and not the average citizen, and the whole idea of government keeping itself in check via institutions that are at odds with each other was exactly what the Founding Fathers were trying to institute in order to prevent tyranny.
