BPD tend to lie. Compulsively so. To make themselves interesting. It goes hand in hand with their self loathing and manic highs. They want to be more interesting so they invent and lie because secretly they hate themselves/circumstances.

In my experience (five years of dealing with a compulsive liar BPD friend) the only way it stops is to call them on their BS outright. They will likely block/stop talking to you but it's the surefire way to end it. Even if you think their little white lies are harmless, don't entertain them. Just point out it's not true. As a colossal sucker for storybook romance, polyamory or anything related to it is pretty much my catalyst for rampant screeching.

It's just so utterly alien an idea, and it's clearly just an attempt to pretty-up wanting to bang more people under the guise of being 'empowered romantically' or whatever. These people have probably never felt actual love in their lives - which isn't the initial attraction, but the force that makes two people stay together (which sounds like something from a cheap romcom, but it's what I've been told by most old married couples I've spoken to).
In the end I don't really have much of an argument against it other than 'it's stupid', but it's a very loud argument I will scream at people until the end of time.

They are stuck on the "fireworks" or "infatuation" part of having a relationship.

The important part or what gets known as love isn't flowers and dick riding so much as it's knowing and dealing with the gross parts of your partner's personality because you really do enjoy the brilliant parts of them. And the same from them to you - but that takes EFFORT and Patience and "Adulting" so, of course, it's considered gross and something to flex on.

You reflexively poly bullshit because seeing an adult play at being a child is wrong - and historically that type of individual was a drain on others if not a danger to others.

TLDR; "For better or worse. In sickness and health. Til death do us part." Aren't met to just be words, but an actual commitment. Poly fucks are allergic to commitment but too cowardly to admit it.
