"Le leddit" has a very toxic - and I'm using this unironically - mentality. The whole site has a problem with rampant karma whoring; most of the mods and especially the infamous NEET supermods are tripping on their perceived powers; compounding this is the fact that most of these "community" (for a lack of a better term) subreddits are sad circlejerks with crabs-in-the-bucket mentality. All of these result in echo chambers, environments in which having any kind of a contrarian opinion, regardless of its other qualities - how factually correct, how valid, how otherwise accepted it is in wider society - is punished heavily.

Reddit is baby's first community. They can find a community for any of their issues, and then they'll act as if it's a cute small niche community despite it's 5-6 digit of members. I can understand the relief of sharing dislikes with other people, such as this very board being comradery over having troons, so people end up going all-in on it.
