It's got focuses for conquering every country on Earth, but damn it's somewhat riddled with deliberate autism and hoi4 map painting logic

I played it and cheated a little cause you can't take Switzerland cause they have 10 level forts everywhere. But yeah there is a focus to take every country on Earth. There is an event after one focus where Goering gets drunk or high and starts telling his generals how he is going to make an alliance with Castro and Haiti. He writes them both a letter, to Castro how they should unite against capitalist America and to Haiti how they are a fellow national socialist state and they will help them against Dominica (they make it clear how stupid Goering is since Haiti hates Dominican Republic not Dominica). They both reply to him with basically "fuck off" and he gets pissed and declarers war on them.
Oh and if you don't win a war within a certain time frame your economy collapses and you have to peace out (cause for some reason you pay your bloated military only during war time).

They mischaracterize Goering further. The man who as far as I know was one of the highest IQ people in the government at the time and was only as much a joke as he was because of his crippling morphine addiction, which after he was weened off of proved extremely competent at his own defense in the Nuremberg Trials, not that he would be found anything but guilty. Don' forget that in TNO Lore he beat his morphine addiction and obesity thus shouldn't be an absolute gluttonous retard like he was in WW2, just a partially gluttonous retard.

I'm a former member who has been on the mod for quite some time, and I still sort of know what's going on in the team thanks to many old contacts. Here's a quick overview of the history of the mod, the flaws of it, and the current situation:

The central flaw of TNO is that is has always been pyramid of elitism. Developers look down on team leaders, team leaders look down on contributors, contributors look down on writers, and writers look down on regular users (called "plebs" in internal chats). The open disdain for the "lower class" of the video game mod development team is palpable, as regular team members are unable to view or participate in lore development, can't post in any channels except their own team channels, and can't even post in the general chat of the server due to an irrational fear of "leakers".

Generally speaking, people do less work the higher up they are - greytides and artists have stringent work quotas and face removals if they don't meet them, contributors and team leads have no quotas, but still do a lot of work, and developers do nothing but jerk off in their "lore dev channels" (idea guys safe spaces) and push their underlings around. The old feedback forms leak confirms this, as loads of members complain about that very system in them.

Early development was a trainwreck, mostly due to Panzers own paranoia and delusion. To "prevent leaks", region development channels were only visible to those who were in that specific development team - someone who worked on Japan could only view #japan-development, but not #pakt-development or #ofn-development. In addition to that, the GitHub was also limited to only a handful of people, as it was split up in multiple branches (every team had their own branch only viewable by the team itself) and writers/artists had no GitHub access at all.

Of course, these measures did jack shit to stop the constant leaks, as the entire repository got leaked multiple times during development. What they did do, however, was to utterly cripple communication between the teams and cause the team to fragment into a cluster of loosely related groups instead of one cohesive team. It took months until people realized "Wait a second, India and Japan are actually unworkable trash developed by retards", and that was mostly due to the fact that only a tiny minority of team members actually had the opportunity to check how things were going in other teams. As such, about 80% of the mod got coded in 2020, which incurred tons of unnecessary crunch time because Panzer is a prideful fucktard who didn't want to delay the mod again.


Funnily enough, the Pacifica situation wasn't that important precisely because developers are worthless ideas guys anyways. The only setback was the git leak and subsequent deletion, but even that didn't set the team back more than a few days - after all, 90% of the team consists of regular people who aren't really affected by tranny drama and the like. The troon brigade likes to take credit for the work of the entire team, but their actual workload is basically negligible.

Yeah, I guessed as much. But I do have to ask, since this is something I'm curious about. Might be a bit too early to answer this though. Has the removal of Pacifica, Valrin, and Panzer actually improved the mod team's capabilities? Or is the new lead dev council just former task masters being collectively promoted to high task master in place of the old ones?

Edit: Also would like to know if there were any purges of team members. Since that was something said early on but never verified. It was sustained by naysey, removal of the message join/leave channel and inability to check team member roles. I'm very skeptical of there being a purge, at least one that numbered more than a handful of guys. But it's not something we ever had a conclusion to.

I haven't played it for a while but my favourite strategy was to play as Haiti, declare war on Sikkim, and use the militancy from not taking Sikkim to pass massive reforms and get millions of immigrants from Europe, effectively turning Haiti white. Soon Haiti is an industrial great power and the massive debt to France isn't even coded in the game. Funny how this "best Paradox game ever" is still an utterly broken mess.
 
Some months ago Joe said he would kill himself if he lost 2 of the 3 most important things to him, his girlfriend, HGO and his cats. He lost 2 so I wonder if he will follow with what he said.
Indian Faaz Noushad who has stood alongside him for over a year and defended him in all of his previous allegations finally left him..

There have been like 20 past occasions in the past where it seemed like Joe would finally fuck off, but he kept reappearing with the other HGO mods at his side. But now that everyone has left him I wonder if this will be the end of Joseph Cash Pcola?

Personal experience is that over the years Kaiserreich has gotten less and less fun. They've been removing more and more player agency to further the narrative. A few years back you for example as Imperial Germany intervene in the Indochina war to ensure that your colony would survive, now they've removed the option and the Indochina war is impossible for the German colony to win as an AI because of the imbalance in troops and resources given. They've also removed some fun paths in the name of realism.

Kaiserredux is a mod that at least tries to undo some of the more boring changes.
