Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

UPDATE
The TNO Tyumen mode is now in a fully playable state at least from Tyumen's perspective.
The superevent issue's fixed, and Khrushchev's portrait has been facelifted. All the relevant events mentioning Khrushchev and Kaganovich have been rewritten to reflect the current lore, and all that's needed for a 2WRW patch is some custom super event images and some music which I can whip up in an hour, tops. There's still of course the issue of loc for other Russian states, God knows which loc I'll need to change but off the top of my head, communist Komi and the WRRF come to mind, as I don't think any of the superregionals have interactions with each other, they cut that out when they removed Men's content since he had an event for when going up against Taboritsky. Aside from that, I gotta figure out how to replace leader descriptions ingame, like how Yazov has a custom 70's description for when he reunifies Russia. Anyways, stay tuned.

Holding off on making a 2WRW patch so far, I don't know if the next update will contain map changes which could fuck the mod up bigtime. Still, everything is basically done, I just wanna release both version at the same time. Here are the new portraits for Brezhnev and Khrushchev, as well Khrushchev's facelifted starting portrait. They get replaced regardless of if you have 2WRW or not.

@GoodWinSon How's progress on the TNORA bugfixing?

So I'm faced with a dilemma here, either I could search for the TNO superevent code on end (For find a program that opens files inside a folder and searches for a certain phrase within each file, if something like that exists), or the nuclear option: I change Brezhnev's and Khrushchev's tags back to their originals, with Khrushchev getting the TYM_Lazar_Kaganovich tag and Brezhnev getting the TYM_Nikita_Khrushchev tag. I'm not sure which to do, option 1 would be easier since it's only a few lines of code but It'd take a long time and be extremely disorganized, but option 2, while tedious, could offer greater compatibility with the already existing TNO files and I'd only have to search inside the files I have inside the Tyumen submod folder, meaning it'd be more organized
I've decided to clear my mind and made a Rhodesia submod, nothing special just Ian Smith takes over Stage 3 devestation Zimbabwe instead of Clifford Dupont. Had to get creative with the portrait making since I couldn't find any unwatermarked Ian Smith portraits that were big enough, meaning I had to make the portrait in 156x210 resolution instead of the usual 312x420.

Glad you brought him back. Ian Smith does exist in TNO albeit they kill him off. He is in South Africa and Hutting has him assassinated to raise tensions between the Boers and the British population still there.

I searched through the South Africa loc, actually. Turns out the event was removed, I ctrl+f'd Ian Smith and got nothing so maybe they replaced him with someone else.

I thought it was some random ANC activist who kills him in some retards idea of revenge fantasyover Ian Smitth governing UDI Rhodesia in real life. Did they change it?

A lot of revenge fantasies in HOI4 modding. In the toozer UoB rework for Kaiserreich, if Mosley fails to take power, his wife leaves him, he loses all friends and support, and ends up bankrupt. Why? He's an evil nazi chud!

Nope, secretly Huttig assassinates him but it has a chance of failing. If it fails anyway he gets killed by someone else and it's left open-ended. No clue why someone would want to assassinate some no-name MP who was never heard of but like you said it's a revenge fantasy.

It's retarded because Ian Smith IRL was actually very moderate ideologically. He did have in mind a plan to grant majority rule at some point in the far future once ZANLA was defeated, probably long after he died of natural causes (so probably up to the 90s, maybe 2000s) but the idea was there. iirc his plan was to develop Rhodesia and keep it stable and free from communism and make sure that when they do have majority rule, it'll be under a functioning government where the whites don't feel threatened at all.

Even in general, the Republic of Rhodesia was a lot more moderate than South Africa at the time and there was hardliners in the Rhodesian government and rival political parties who hated him simply because he didn't go far enough. Now whether or not they're right is up to debate, but it's retarded that TrooNO brands Ian Smith and the mainstream Rhodesian Front as a generic fascist party when in reality, shocker, there's more nuance to that.

I made him revolutionary nationalist, since he's radicalized by Huttig and whatnot. The original leader for Rhodesia was Clifford Dupont and the nation was called "Kolonial Verwaltung Zambezi", basically a German remnant state.

Yeah I remember that from the vanilla version. Clifford Dupont was just a normal member of the Rhodesian Front. So for his and Smith's ideology would probably be National Conservatism if we go by our timeline/IRL.

But Revolutionary Nationalism is not a bad idea either given different circumstances.
