Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
It still amazes me those troons picked up a literal who orchestrated a coup that was such a failure that even the crew told him to fuck off and was never reported in the West concurrent to the actual events and made him the Jesus Christ of Communism based on a few letters he sent home. As for the last point, these are the types of people who think legislating stuff instantly equals it working. These are the kind of people who think you could abolish the 2A and gun crime would vanish overnight as people quit using guns and turn them in.

They're all fucking disgusting statists who think the state is good as long as it does what they want and fuck you if you think otherwise. It's why people fetishize Syndie America so much in Kaiserreich discussions, because they love the idea of crushing evil racist sexist bigots and introducing literal bottom surgery to a 1940s America.

I want to blame Francis Fukuyama for this but I don't think even that fucking retard could have understood the ramifications of his end of history bullshit and current-year political discourse.
Ok minor nit pick but Sablin wasn't a literally who. His story directly inspired Hunt for Red October. Anyways good talk boys. Lotta activity in this thread today.

Because Fukuyama is the genesis of every dogshit foreign policy decision in the last 20-30 years.
IDK about that but he can be blamed on TNO. Since the whole point of TNO in Panzer days (and worse now) is to do nothing and eventually the bad guys will lose. Despite the fact they claimed that no more trap and fail state paths would be a thing.

Though I have a lot less on this one as I am stumped too. Goes back to my other comment I guess on how they think Lenin was just a misguided idealist and that his authoritarian measurements were war time policy and not standard policy. Sablin was not a libsoc as they portray him as, more so he thought that the current USSR was too revisionist in typical leftist fashion.

As for syndie America even the IWW and left wing movements of the time were not into that stuff. Like mentioned with Gus Hall they were firmly in the fuck faggots camp. Even the most openly gay member Harry Haywood was told to get an actual wife and stop being a faggot. It would have been far more interesting if they MUST mention Magnus Hirshfeild for some reason to actually have him remain in Germany. As while Germany is in an identity crisis on how constitutional or absolute their monarchy is, they are not super far right. The SPD and very prominent Jew who IRL fled to America like Eintstein can still be found in the country as an example. Nor was the German monarchy and nobles not aware of same homo scandals.

Though I don't trust them to handle it with nuance or make it interesting if they did. Just some simple slop on the SPD being wholesome and legalizing it and if any other part is in power they criminalize it again since they are mean.

I would soon run into larger number of anarcho-communists specifically identifying with syndicalism and the IWW and yes KR was confirmed to be their influence for this.
This is hilarious for two reasons.

First of all the IWW is a meme now, I don’t even know why it still exists. Your average person, let alone your average worker isn’t interested in paying 18 dollars a month to be a part of a union that does almost nothing and that isn’t even focused on a particular profession. Also your average anarchist communist isn’t an oppressed worker, they’re a very confused 15 year old who spends every day on Reddit. Also the IWW subreddit has like 20,000 members while the IWW itself has only 12,138. I think that should tell you all you need to know.

Secondly, syndicalism has a very close relationship to fascism, especially in Italy where multiple Syndicalist aligned parties/unions threw their support behind Mussolini, as well as a lot of Syndicalist ideas being integrated into far right movements in France and Spain. Historically it’s been a lot more associated with nationalism than wholesome libertarian leftism.

Them, and grown child "adults" who are either 100% unemployed, or "work" at some dead end minimum wage job so they can stay on government handouts while having some pocket change to buy porn, booze, and drugs with. They're not serious, productive, contributing members of society that have some weight either economically (by having disposable income and/or a useful trade skill or college profession), or militarily (by being armed and semi-formed into a militia), they're useless dregs that could all die off tomorrow and few would notice or care.

EDIT:
Found a quote that I think applies here:
"You've got that eternal idiotic idea that if anarchy came it would come from the poor. Why should it? The poor have been rebels, but they have never been anarchists ; they have more interest than any one else in there being some decent government. The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't ; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly, the rich have always objected to being governed at all. Aristocrats were always anarchists, as you can see from the barons' wars."

Which is part of the reason Kaiserreich started to go down the tubes as it got gradually taken over by redditors who are too disingenuous and radical to actually explore the very obvious implications that Kaiserreich's setting would have on how ideology would actually develop.

More fallout from the rework announcements. Since they locked down the Reddit we now have the lead dev and his friends attacking their critics on Twitter. It's about what you'd expect: they're quite mad at the Internet because people don't appreciate having all wars removed from a war game.

Looks fun, I'm looking forward to it.
Erm, what the scallop? They said the R-SLUR? WE GOTTA CANCEL THESE CHUDS! They did an ableism!

Blaming him for every foreign policy decision in the last 20-30 years is kinda stupid and overestimates the reach of book, something the vast majority of people have never read.
While I agree that Fukuyama was more of a codification of a zeitgeist rather than the formulator of one, a book's reach doesn't have to be popular to be influential, especially when it comes to policymakers.

While I stopped playing TNO years ago I keep coming back to observing the community because they display some of the most peculiar behaviors I've ever seen. If you look at the after action report tag on their Reddit multiple people are so starved for actual content that they're playing skeletons (countries without any actual content) to hold them over until the next demo drops.

The joke? They're getting as much - and sometimes more - gameplay and action out of this than our esteemed documentarian @Toji Suzuhara got out of playing Mexico's demo a while back.
Makes you wonder why they don't just play a real mod instead or even vanilla at this point.

After reading about latest round of reworks . I have to laugh that there is still talk about TNO2 .
1) constant reworks and glacial pace of developing new content , so hoi4 will die/be replaced by hoi5 before they will get mod into shape they can start developing content for next decade.
2)with retcons most of stuff people were excited about 3rd Sino-Japanese war, Russo -German war... are either cut or made really lame.

Didnt both the Holocaust and Generalplan Ost were stopped in universe because the nazis needed slaves, like there is enough jews left from just Italy to form Israel, it isnt like, lets say, Anglo-American/Nazi war where the only jews remaining are some few dudes in Switzland and some ww1 veterans the nazis gave after being given rubber and oil

The lore has been changed, the holocaust is more or less fully completed.

Getting mad about a fictional event that happened outside the timeframe of the game. Why play a fictional game if bad thing happened in-universe? Imagine being this emotionally invested in TNO lore.
Thing is this is realistic. Me and my friend would often joke that one reason leftists get so butthurt at right-wing stuff is that in a strange way it cared more for democracy then they did.l Look at several far-right regimes. Spain, Portugal, Chile, Taiwan-KMT. Each have something your typical redditor will kvetch and sperg about. You know what they did though? They liberalized into liberal democracies.

Now look at the USSR, China, Laos, DPRK, Cambodia. The ones who did sorta go democratic did so cause of collapse. Not a willingness on their part. Whereas in others the despotism got so ingrained its just part of their culture. Essentially what I am saying is Japan and Italy to me at least make sense that fascism and ultranationalism rose at a time when the people were autistic and out for blood but now they won the peace they sorta calm down. That's essentially what KR Germany is anyway.

The Speer GO4 is even more retarded as its more of an inverse Gorbachev and the August coup in the fact Speer is not really a reformer but trying to hold onto a decaying system but his allies later take away his power and try to transition into a normal republic to keep their gains from the war without being bogged down or tied down to a retarded system.

Italy is even funnier since in its post-fascist content it can go authdem though its considered le bad since a lot of its neo-fascist i our timeline or at least natpop (not the KR one) like Ukip, National Front France, or Trump like. I did a run of them lately and its not too bad actually. Kinda funny to go democratic only to end up back with a nationalist government.
