Speaking of Sejozwak, he uploaded a video titled "HOI 4 is Dead."
Honestly, half the video is legitimate complaints, but the other half just comes off as sperging. For instance, he turns off the checks for decisions in the console and then complains when there'a bunch of unexpected behaviour. I do agree that it's not correct behaviour for AI to do formables in historical though. Also it's really funny that there's a shitload of errors just when starting the game in debug mode. Typical Paraslop. I haven't noticed any performance issues either, but I have a good CPU and I've been playing TFR a lot recently so my perspective may be off.
I really don't like the new localizations. I guess it's cool for "flavour," but all it does is create confusion. Like, IDK what the fuck Trans-Olza or Tesinsko is, but I do know what Zaolzie is because that's what the province has been called since the game fucking launched.
Also, I think he's right that the new Hitler portrait looks borked and I would 100% not put it past Paradox to use AI to generate leader portraits. That level of laziness from them is exactly on brand. There's a clear lack of polish and play testing, like the building slot issues for the new states.
I think that it's clearer more now than ever that HOI4 as a WW2 sim/grand strategy game is over. HOI4 since like No Step Back has been more and more devoted to alt-history RP (is it actually LARP if it's in a video game?). I'm kind of fine with that direction, since I've been tired of playing HOI4 the historical way (i.e., historical Germany or historical UK where you let France fall, etc.) for a while. Maybe that's just because those paths have been really lackluster and if Paradox actually put effort into developing historical gameplay they would be interesting again. I like the new special project system, but it feels like Paradox gave it basically no balance testing. The sub tech seems extremely busted and there's no equivalent counter for anti-sub tech, e.g., aircraft deployed sonar buoys.
I'm hoping for a new UK/Commonwealth expansion next, the UK has always been my favourite to play, but I think Japan is going to get the next expansion. Anybody else wanna take a guess?
EDIT: local archive in case he takes the video down (360p).
