I'm definitely overly optimistic, but the 2WRW mod turning into TNO requiem is the first time I'm this excited for something TNO related since 2022-2023, back when they had a roadmap and Guangdong actually released with 10 years of content.

Also, the devs of TNO requiem had to have known main TNO was going full realism mode, the announcement was too perfectly timed.

It's funny hopping around various HOI4 subreddits and seeing random people laugh at TNO for removing all the legacy content and replacing it with barebones bullshit. The lack of Stockholm syndrome is hilarious and really helps sell that TNO is the closest we will get to a HOI4 version of Fallout: Frontier disaster.

The year is 2030, TNO (now in HOI V) got the exact map as otl cold war, but there is a nazi remnant in Svarbald or something

There was, until recently, a large clique of "realism"/minigame addicts who wanted to continue to hang off Last Days. The Requiem devs got them to screw off and make their own submod with antarctica and minigames, and the name change was being talked about sometime around that.

The announcement was made at that particular time probably because TNO was shooting itself in the foot so fantastically and the realist plants were gone. Perfect time to go for the balls. I bet there was some amount of seethe among the Last Days devs. 2WRW was probably one of the best candidates for integration and they let them slip away. Oops.
