Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

Why do people like him feel the need to constantly tell people that (insert person whos been dead for longer than your parents have been alive) were wholesome 0 evil racist sexist homophobic etc, etc, etc.

It serves no purpose for the path and just takes you out of the "experience".
Bad writing, same reason TNO needs to reminds that you're suposed to dislike Hall, the german thot or Kovner.
Just write good enough, if you can show how anti semitic Kenedy was in one text, do it, no need to remind it 20 times.

Zhukov was peak manlet.

Manlet.I would agree but keep in mind this conversation resulted from an assumption that Kaiserreich moved him to East Asia as some way to own the Wehraboos when I can't find any proof of that and their reasoning for moving him there seemed pretty impartial. It doesn't strike me as obsessed on their part.

Because you HAVE to know someone born 200 years ago was a Nazi transphobic bigot!

Anti-Wheraboos almost exclusively focus on Rommel and he used to be in Germany proper. That is what I'm going on.

That guy is part of the Krasnacht team now. In case you don't know it's a cold war mod based on KR where NatPop Russia and holsum 100 Syndies partitioned Europe. Take a guess where the devs stand.

Explain this for a retard.

Also there has been demands for yet another civil war in KR, this time in Canada because morons still refuse to get that the British exiles aren't operating some dictatorship in Canada and are more than stuffy old people smoking cigars (I've unironically seen people sum up Canadian war aims as literally just stuffy monarchs wanting revenge). Thankfully people with knowledge of Canadian politics in the era are speaking out. Also one post is conveniently about Krasnacht and well can't say I'm surprised.

Another big thing is that it discounts a lot of key points of Canadian history. I wouldn't give a single shit if they were doing wacky fun stuff, but since they want to get all historical it'd be super retarded. As mentioned Canada was extremely loyal to the crown at the time and the major player who changed that was Mackenzie King (who is in the mod) but he changed that because of the heavy fighting of World War 1, denying the following requests that Canada and the other dominions join the fight against Mustafa Kamel's uprising in occupied Turkey without a democratic vote. Obviously in a royalist vs sepratists situation where they lost WW1 you have potential for a very interesting idealogical clash in politics. With Quebec it's a bit different. Throughout most of its history under Canada it has never seriously considered armed uprising because early key figures believed diplomatic pressure would be a much more effective solution that would come to fruition of a socialist movement and Quebec's earlier industrialization than the rest of Canada. The Quiet Revolution which started in 1965 which was a period of cultural change and industrialization in Quebec that would lead up the 1995 referendum which was pretty close. The only armed uprising in Quebec was from the Quebec Liberation Front, a terrorist organization led by communist extremists that started in action in 1969 that was so destructive that Quebecois people largely approved the installation of marshal law and a large police presence to deal with them. Canadian separatism works just fine in Kasiereich and is already in place. But armed uprisings would make no sense for the period.

If you wanna do really fun and out there shit there with Canada there are lots of very specific points in history you could use if you exaggerate things. Aforementioned Quebec Liberation Front and the Quiet Revolution's highly successful nationalization efforts, political and social changes and the referendum. Communism was extremely popular in Western Canada's provinces and it had a illegal but very popular party funded by the Soviets that went defunct after the disbanding of the Comintern and crackdown on the party in the early stages of the Cold War. There was a very short period where 33% of Quebecers wanted to join the U.S. Many of the colonies that would become Canada were also very interested in joining the American Revolution but didn't because of the large amount of British military bases in Canada made them reconsider. The Rebellion of Upper Canada (Toronto) that led to the formation of the province of Canada out of Upper Canada and Lower Canada (Quebec) The Rebellion of Upper Canada also led to this tiny ass island declaring itself the Republic of Canada. It didn't last long because this was its flag.

As for modern day Canada, Quebecois separatism is boomer shit and most provincial governments get elected off the idea they don't intend to leave the confederation. That being a consequence of the civic nationalism sweeping modern day Canada. In Alberta there's a very retarded independence movement with no figurehead. It comes from the very real issue of Canadian politicians only considering the interests of Quebec and Ontario because that's where most leaders come from and an overwhelming majority of the population is which have very different interests. There's also some funny guys who are pro-monarchy and wish to see the restoration of the British Empire through the old concept of the Imperial Federation. (idea to turn Britain and its subjects into the Federation of Greater Britain. At one point in early ww1 times to appease Ireland with its own republic and to keep India under its boot as a permanent colony, and during WW2 to save the British Empire in its final days)

Yeah I was arguing with them on that post, they are completely delusional. They just assume the Canadian politics of the era without any background knowledge.

Can you give us a quick rundown?
Sure.

The bogdanoffs bow down to Volund.

Nah but really.
The guy made some decent videos on the decreasing quality of total war titles.
Reddit spergery ensued and he was banned and blacklisted by CA.
Now the hilarious part for me are the unending segments on the reddit drama involving him which last for a couple of minutes but feel like hours.

A 1 hour and 21 minutes video on the testudo, autism incarnate.

But despite his obvious autism he still made some good points on how the fanbase (especially the Total war hammer retards) are willing to look past shitty dlcs, lack of actual unit variety, an arcadey game stripped of every meaningful strategic idea if only it has warhammer in the title.
One of the most jarring changes was how ranged weapons went from powerful machines of death to lines in the air harmlessly falling against the enemy who just up and dies.

Also here is the reddit thread on volund from the CA subreddit.

Rate me autistic of course.

Well that seems to me that this drama is just redditors being redditors , being unable to take criticisms to the things they like and proceed to shit their pants in unision is just normal in reddit. However being banned by CA themselves seems interesting, was it done to appease the redditors or was it a conscious move by the company?

I think its a bit of both.
But CA certainly did not have any quarrels telling him to fuck off.
I think it happened right after he lambasted the Total War Troy demo for beint shit.
Which is true, total war troy was an all around piece of shit.
Because you can't have historical battles with single entity hero-like units conjuring up debuffs in bronze age turkey.

But yes it is just a case of terminal redditry.

Most of them also defend CA shitty monetization policy.
Their current "flagship" game Is Warhammer 2 and soon they are going to release Warhammer 3 . They released lot of DLCs for it most of them were adding or reworking two factions.
What is problém you ask?
Well you need to buy Previous game and its DLCs for full price to get full content in sequel. So when Warhammer 3 will be released you will have to buy/own Warhammer 1, 2 and all DLCs to get full game. And you are never going to touch Previous entries because "sequels" are just larger DLC (Warhammer 3 adds chinese faction , And reworks 2 already in game) and game is almost same only with more content

Its CK2 all over again.

I think the Kaiserdevs fucked up the American Progressives as well. In real life they weren't buddying up with socialists like Olson does in Kaiserreich but actually found sympathy with Huey Long's Every Man A King policy.
I think the civil wars are a lazy attempt at empowering the Syndacalist powers without being too obvious about it.
Especially the canadian one.

Unrelated to HoI4 but is anyone following the Total war drama started by volund?
The guy is a sperg but good lord can he mine salt on reddit.
Been watching some of his videos. I am not surprised the TW fanboys hate him. The TW Subreddit is basically solely for Warhammer now anyways.

I'm very mixed on CA's DLC policy but it's not as simple as it looks. When I hung out around a lot of circles there was a massive demand for DLC to get their favorite characters in. Beyond this it's just barely a step above Paradox's DLC. Major updates to game features are a staple of free content updates for CA unlike Paradox who sell game features piecemeal as the selling point of the DLC. Additional units of course are still locked behind DLC for TW:W with the severity of that being variable. Like for Skaven I'd say at least one of thee three DLCs that have included them are mandatory for the units. But there's no need to for DLCs with High Elves cause it largely just bloats their roster. So the DLC content itself is more reasonable than Paradox's but bulk of the DLC being lord packs. AKA 1 character from 2 factions being added, handful of units and unique mechanics specific to those new characters tend to have a lot of production value for one faction and a poor showing for the other.

As for Mortal Empires (the campaign that stretches across both game 1 and 2's map and factions) it doesn't bother me that you need to own game 1 to access a mode that is game 1's content. However, the default Warhammer 2 Vortex campaign is dogshit and CA also barely reduced the base price of game 1 and its DLC when it's a significantly lower quality product compared to 2 that as you say pretty much is needed. The community begged both for updates and new DLC in Warhammer 2 for the races of the first game and delivered both; free major updates and released cross-game DLC lord packs. The community asked for DLC for DLC factions from 1, CA delivers and gives you bonus content for owning both. CA's DLC on the surface is absolutely abhorrent and sounds like some of the biggest anti-consumer shit. But again, it comes from a genuine ravenous desire for DLC from the community and CA gives them exactly what they ask for. I can't blame them for milking a fanbase in the exact way it wants to be milked.

As for TW:W3 the way you've phrased it is completely disingenuous. Chaos as a faction on the original tabletop consisted of three armies, Beastmen, Daemons of Chaos and Warriors of Chaos. Warriors of Chaos are the infamous week 1 DLC from the first game that was never intended to be played and only act as an endgame dilemma. People demanded CA make Warriors of Chaos playable so they strapped a piece of shit together and threw it out that everyone hated and rightfully condemned them for. In 3 CA is adding Daemons of Chaos, which as previously mentioned are a fully independent army. As for Kislev, the other faction, it's not a reskin, it's a completely different nation inspired by Eastern Europe as opposed to the Holy Roman Empire that the Empire of Man is. And unlike the Empire of Man is vastly underdeveloped in the lore and actually required significant original content to be produced as opposed to the picking and choosing of already established ideas with some new stuff that every other faction is.

This is an extremely exceptional post from me. But I felt the need to respond because I think you're missing the forest for the trees. The amount of DLC is awful, but again a response to a DEMAND for DLC from the community in the exact ways it wants it. While the increasingly low quality of the games goes completely ignored as strategy and tactical elements vastly decline with each new game, TW:W included. They sell blood and gore as DLC off a bullshit justification of age rating for the base game. CA gets into shitfits with its own creators for doing stuff they don't like, and just produce shit quality content in general.
