racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

Believe it or not I played the DOS nascar racing game by Papyrus. I never really got good at it though. There also wasn't any sound because the version of XP installed could run DOS games, but it didn't support sound for DOS games.

I’m not a racist or car guy, but I wanted to drive some cars for a bit and decided to pick up forza. I am enjoying it for the most part but holy shit I have never been angrier at a video games multiplayer.

How do you guys play these?

I spend 5 minutes qualifying for a shitty position. Then 5 more minutes in a race only for some asshole to ram me off the track and ruin my lap time and position. I normally don’t care about how well I do in games but this just drives me crazy. I have an S rank safety rating apparently but I’m getting matched with these bozos.

Very simply. I dont play multiplayer in arcade games, only semiserious environments (automobilista/iracing).

I go into most racing games expecting to get hit, so when it does happen I don't get too upset about it.

Forza has a reputation of rampant rammers in multiplayer. Also doesn't help that safety ratings in racing games are almost never effective.

Four new cars (although the Porsche is a returning car, and the Manx 2.0 is an EV) are coming to FH5 in the next season, starting next week, and includes THE LONG AWAITED Nissan Tsuru:

I was surprised that they'd add a new Bronco, but it's not too bad of an add, since this one's a 5-door version.

There will also be a new paid Car Pack in the next update:

So, as with every other game in the series, I pre-ordered the new Forza Motorsport and I'm not sure I've ever been more infuriated at a game's initial experience. Microsoft knows that I've literally played every Motorsport and Horizon game - to the point where in previous titles, they'd give out in-game rewards based on how many previous titles you'd played.

Despite this, I still have to sit through an hour or so of completely unskippable handholding nonsense narrated by some inoffensive helpful lady telling me that I need to brake for turns. How the fuck does this game have so many accessibility options (extending to making it easier for actual blind people to play), but doesn't allow me to skip tutorials or at least select a "I'm not a drooling retard" option?

Maybe someone out there likes this shit, but I can't imagine that I'm the only racing game veteran that's really put off by this horseshit.

If you thought that having to sit through the handholding in Forza games was bad, then you should check out the Cafe menus in GT7, which is pretty much the "main campaign" of the game.

Have they finally decided to put some time into the sound design of the horn? Every Ubisoft game that has vehicles in it always have the worst and cheapest honk sound effect.

Sadly, the horns in TCM are still crap, and there's a severe lack in variety of them. I'm not sure if the game has the meme horn sounds that Forza Horizon has, i.e. Windows XP Shutdown, MS Teams call, Wololo, and FH5 even added a Wheelspin Win horn, which is really trolly as fuck. But at least you can assign horns in The Crew games (I'm not sure if that's the case for the older games) on a per-car basis, compared to how Forza Horizon assigns the horn for all of your cars at once.

There's a Windows XP horn? And I keep forgetting that Horizon 5 takes place in Mexico. So, they have a car festival in a foreign country and starts adding stuff out of nowhere. The only thing that reminds me of its setting is when the characters speak a combination of Spanish and English in the same sentence. Do people actually talk like that?

Not at all lol. It’s what media likes to do when they want to show a character is of a different ethnic background. I had a coworker who was speaking to another coworker in Spanish and he turned around and spoke a whole sentence in Spanish to me and I went, “Dude, I only got like 4 words out of that.” And he went, “Oh shit, I’m sorry. You were probably so confused.” Best way I guess is that it’s like a switch in your brain where you turn it to one end and then the other. Maybe someone who’s actually bi-linguistic could chime in though and dispel the guy who only got as far as Spanish 2, German 1 and Russian 1, though.

Yes, that's very common among Latin Spanish speakers in the US from my experience.

GRID is one of those games where you play in bursts. Not much variety in track selection or cars, unless you buy DLC. For better or worse, it's a barebones simcade stock car experience.

Its a long shot but maybe one of you knows the game.

From first decade of 2000. Tuner game. You have a car, sit in a single spot and wait for competitors to roll up to you. You drive for parts. Eventually you can drive for a pink slip ans advance to next area. I vaguely remember it but no idea how its called, google doesnt help either.

Any ideas?
