  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I wonder if Playground Games offering the McLaren F1 in this week's Forzathon Shop in Forza Horizon 5, is a low-key burn towards Polyphony Digital having the McLaren F1 in Gran Turismo 7, in a limited-time vendor, for a whopping 18.5 million credits.

FH5 was a big disappointment for me, just felt like FH4 on a new map. The story was absolute cringe as well, everyone sound like they're on coke, constantly telling you that you're the most amazing driver ever, and they never, ever shut the fuck up. Not to mention the amount of brands that were removed such as Alfa and Fiat, or the lazy reused assests, the Vocha should be a later model Beetle but it's just the same car from FH1 felt like a real celebration of car culture, FH5 feels like a participation trophy.

I do enjoy the F1 games though, I think they strike a good balance between accessibility and realism. You can go for a cockpit only 75 race lap if you want, or turn off the flags and damage and have a 3 lap destruction derby. I generally play somewhere in the middle, and like the strategy elements of planning pitstops, and that depending on your team it's not always about having to finish first. Although you do face the inevitable problem of the tracks largely being the same in every game, I wish they'd add a few classic ones as well. There were a few of the classic F1 cars, but EA now own Codemasters so took them out, as well as adding stupid shit like ballet podium emotes. That said, no monetisation yet......

I still remember having F1 2020 on my gameslist. I wonder why I haven't playe....
>No driving wheel
>Shit specs on a light laptop

Back to the drawing board. As for games, I still do remember playing Outrun on PS2 so I wonder what happened to that series.

With the whole mess going on with Gran Turismo 7, one feature that somehow isn't in the game, is being able to rotate the chase cam, like how you can in other racing games.

Apparently though, GT Sport's Beta had a rotatable Chase Cam, but people complained about the sensitivity of the rotation being off, so the feature wasn't implemented in the final game.

I do wonder if this missing feature in GT7 is due to developer laziness, or it being against Kaz's "vision", like many of the other game design choices.

The font change throws me off. I understand the approach is accessibility and welcoming everybody, but no need to coddle your audience like they're ALL children.

The first Horizon was T rated. Now they're watering down ANYTHING even remotely offensive.

The writing in FH5 is absolute shit.
So much bullshit getting forced down the players throat... I was honestly expecting that the next mission chain would be delivering HRT for a troon...

every time i see this in the thread list the combination of op's icon and the description makes me laugh. i just wanted to share.
anyway fh4 looks absolutely beautiful and the thought of getting to enjoy UK's nature again without dropping a thousand bucks on a ticket is really nice.
...but i don't think it's worth getting an xbox or a full gaming pc setup.

I just played an hour of Forza Horizon 4 and I'm considering refunding it because I hate open world racing games. Can anyone give me good recommendations for arcade-y non-open world racing games? For context, my favorite racing game is probably Need For Speed: The Run.

You might like the Dirt series. Not Dirt Rally though as that steers toward realism. The Ridge Racers that were released on PS3 and 360 are also good.

I'm not really a fan of racing games, but I'm usually keen to give racing games with violence a chance (no, not a Twisted Metal fan)...

Now I understand why sim racers bore me. Driving around closed tracks with sports cars, while exhilarating, can lose its luster when you've done it several times.

Forza Motorsport 4 allows you to collect and race civilian cars along with your exotics and imports. There's more personality and expression driving in say a Honda Fit than a Lamborghini.

I was all about sim racers until I was able to afford actual cars. Hard to beat the real thing on some hilly roads or the local track.

i bought FH4 and to my surprise it actually runs, at a playable fps (despite on the lowest graphics) on my dinky little piece of shit laptop.
best.

I tried Hot Pursuit (2010). Turning is a bitch to handle. It relies on artificial drift to make corrections during races. Exotics only doesn't leave much room for variety.
try using a gaming remote to steer or check your settings.

With Codemasters now being in the EA umbrella, the next F1 game will be called F1 22, and will be released on July 1. New features include a MyTeam feature, and Supercars. (?)

Fortunately, there is no F1 version of Ultimate Team, yet. And I wouldn't want to imagine the reaction of Ultimate Team coming out for a future F1 game, after Polyphony Digital got absolutely shat on, for their forced microtransaction pushes in Gran Turismo 7.

Origin will unfortunately be required to play the game, though.

best.

The Forza games have always been well-optimized, for the most part.
