The way I see people who know Chris from the internet and want to help him, it's similar to killing the spider to save the butterfly. You think you're doing justice but you're messing with nature. Chris is not a mentally healthy individual. He's a product of a lot. For people who aren't him it's easy to get angry about the things he does, but if you excuse it you add to the problems. There is no easy or right answer. You don't want to go to the extreme of "I can't wait to see Chris begging on the street and eating human shit to survive!" or "I want to help Chris by helping him duck responsibilities and play make believe".

As far as I know, none of us are doctors who have interacted with him in real life in a professional setting.

Chris’s autism, stupidity and tremendous gullibility makes him unique. He’s not entertaining by himself though.

Yeah, he might have 5 idea guys ideas running through his head at any given time, but unlike somebody who’s truly schizophrenic, there’s an element of choice of what he believes in order to escape his sad reality.

Try as you might, you won’t see an Idea Guy succeeding with implanting the idea in Chris’s head that he needs to get a part time job, or spending 20 hours a week helping out in a soup kitchen.

A true and honest schizophrenic/crazy person has no choice in his/her beliefs, which are usually extremely unpleasant for them. Being controlled by CIA/aliens/having their thoughts read, etc.

This is also why Chris hasn’t been “caught” or diagnosed by a psychiatrist yet. He’s smart enough to realize that some bad things would follow if he told a therapist about his Goddess work, etc, and clearly in control of his own reality, so that he can ignore those beliefs.

Good post. In a way, I see Chris as the opposite of an actual schizo. Whereas schizophrenic people are often very paranoid and scared BECAUSE of their delusions and would do anything to be rid of them, the thing Chris seems to fear the most is his delusions wearing off and having to face reality.

Chris is definitely crazy. He cut his taint open because he believed he was growing a vagina. He still believes he's growing a vagina, in fact. He has been conned by people over this. Around New Years, when he thought the merge was happening, he didn't sleep for 24 hours. And he continues to maintain belief in his stupid beliefs (including to mental health professionals) even after having suffering these consequences.

Chris trivially qualifies as mentally ill because of these things. Schizophrenia isn't the only mental illness out there.
