Ah my bad I haven't been up on the details regarding them in a while but yeah as some have said bob was at best indifferent to blacks and queers and especially when it came to his own son trooning out he couldn't accept it and I'm certain he took his disapproval of it to the grave despite what chris said. Anyway best to leve it as is. Bob wasn't perfect but he was at the very least better for Chris than Barb. He at least tried to wrangle Chris and all his bs he brought upon him in his old age.

Bob wasn't exactly a saint. He did seem to be sue happy (he threatened to sue a Chinese place after Barb got colitis or whatever it was she had) and he did really fuck up Chris by not instilling a work ethic in him. There's also probably a very good reason that his own children pretty much wanted nothing to do with him.
That being said, there's no evidence that he was in the KKK other than that one prank call, in which he was probably just trying to scare some dorks calling him. He was obviously cool with Korean people, since he went to a Korean church, and other than being transphobic and probably homophobic (like most men of his generation), he didn't really seem bigoted. I don't think he ever said anything that would be considered racist against black people, either (that stupid "paint the white house black" joke isn't really racist, just unfunny).

Bob made them financially stable despite their financially irresponsible behavior, and the fucking second he died, they pissed away every cent they had on a lawsuit they were doomed to lose. I don't know how I feel about Chris doing that, if it was his idea or if he even had input on it, but Barb is directly responsible for every single bad thing in her life to such a degree that it almost seems intentional. I can't feel an ounce of pity for her. I don't care if she's suffering or not, but if she is, she earned it.
On that note, I've been wondering about what his thoughts are about trying to bring Bobchu back into our reality so he can continue to shoulder the burden of Barb and himself. Chris never complains about having to babysit Barb anymore, either he's used to it by now or Barb is just slowly mummifying alive like a Sokushinbutsu due to neglect. But in retrospect, I'm surprised he never thought about it.

What people are missing about the Klan stuff (Bob is obviously bullshitting there IMO) is that he was responding to a troll in a very Chris-like way. Bob created the Greene County Conspiracy stuff and played into his son's delusional persecution complex. He had major flaws as a father.
It's interesting how the politics around Chris have changed. The trolls and people on the old CWCkiforum used to lean liberal, and Chris was often portrayed as this backwards racist sexist homophobe white trash hillbilly to be dunked on by smarter liberals Colbert-style. Ruckersville was peak white trash, but Chris didn't fit into that culture for being too soft, effeminate and nerdy...a lot like the PVCC degenerates, who were sexually-confused autists like him. Now he's peak liberal degeneracy. Oh how times have changed.

Seriously, put yourself in his shoes; You're an octegenarian World War II vet, you've been through three triple bypasses, a divorce, raising two children to adulthood, and raising an adult-autistic child to 30 years old. This aforementioned autistic child being someone widely known on the internet for exemplifying some of the most bizarre behavior seen in a grown man that's sparked 10+ years of discussion on a dedicated section of a rather well-illuminated internet forum. Then having to deal with a flurry of teenage-something fanatics blowing your landline up day in and out, until you finally decide to just tune out the rest of society to spend your final few years listening to Cab Calloway and Earl Hines in peace whislt reminiscing about your quaint childhood spent in poverty.

The big thing i can't give bob a pass on its his tendency to cut off his nose to spite his face. Was bob generally a decent guy who wanted the best for his son? Sure. Did he put him in the best position to succeed? Absolutely not.
When Chris had his troubles with Greene county the school wanted to take him out of mainstream education. Which is what they should have done. Chris obv has serious mental and emotional delays and needed specialty one on one care. Instead bob created a conspiracy theory that the county was somehow out to get his family. Then got an apartment in a different county so he could send Chris to another school district. You have to ask yourself, is this what a good parent would do for their child? Or what a bitter out of touch person who is looking to buck the system would do out of spite.
Then there was pvcc. Chris was disciplined multiple times for his antics during his love quest. He responded by threatening and demonizing the dean and got expelled for it. What was Bob's response? Too write a letter to the president to complain about the unfair treatment his son got. He didn't sit Chris down and explain to him that what he was doing was inappropriate. He didn't discipline him. He blamed someone else. The same way chris does.
His time at the game place was the same way. Chris acted out, got into multiple altercations with other customers, was disciplined and then finally banned. Bob's response? Create another conspiracy theory about homosexuals and Michael Snyder colluding with Megan to get him banned. Even going as far as to blame them for all of the trolling his son experienced. Now Mimms and Lucas were def apart of that sure. But Megan wasnt. Snyder wasnt. Snyder ended up being hit with a car over chris's time there. I'm sure Chris fed bob a line of shit about what happened. But he and barb talked to Snyder. He knew. When alec benson leary called bob posing as a game place employee there was no apology from bob. No recognition for what chris did. Just more excuses and victim blaming
The Chandler family story is one of stubbornness, resentment and entitlement. It's the main reason those traits are so prevalent in chris. If i had a child with developmental delays or autism id want to do everything in my power to put them in the best position to succeed. Whatever that took. Special classes, schools, counseling, w/e. Bob and barbs backwards, old school world views created the monster known as Christian Weston Chandler. For that, the blame lies on their shoulders.
