So I’m trying to get caught up on the recent developments with Ben and his interactions with Chris. People are accusing it of being another IG or a less funny attempt at emulating ABL, but hear me out for a second:

This is the first time in a long while that comics have been used to fuck with Chris directly rather than just parody him regardless of whether he acknowledges it or not. I really miss how Chris doesn’t chronicle the Sonichu canon as a twisted reflection of his own life. I would’ve loved to see an issue involving Chris Chan Sonichu/Night Star/whatever his preferred insert is finding out the moon laser was fake or non-functional then zapping himself to the moon instant transmission style while subsequently putting Wise and Boyd’s head on a split.

The point is, this is a more interesting way of influencing Chris since Ben seems to have some measure of artistic talent and thus the roleplaying might seem more “real” to Chris since now he has an image to associate with the fantasy. He might retaliate and start churning out more comics as a way of responding. It’s better than sifting through two twitter accounts of incomprehensible nonsense written by a fat toothless welfare queen and OPL.

One positive thing I can assign to all this is at least it’s immune to gatekeeping. The guys name is already out there and I doubt he cares if somebody calls his mother. This will end when one of the two of them gets bored and not due to some white knight shutting it down.

People mentioning Alec and how he might effect Chris’ psyche today... remember Alec outright told Chris that Asperchu wasn’t real and didn’t have any wants or needs of his own unless it was something Alec specifically drew and put on paper which kind of made Chris mad and he called Alec naive over. In other words on some level or another he’s believed this shit for at least a decade, maybe longer. Hell remember he told Jackie that the worst bullying he experienced in school was random people telling him Sonic was dead. He mentioned that as being worse than getting punched in the face or people throwing change at him. It was just that Joshua Wise managed to articulate it in more specific, mystical sounding terms and Sockness added to the lore.

What this guy is doing is fairly benign imo. It’s just him parodying another series. However because of the mental state of the subject he’s parodying there isn’t Chris ignoring it or rage quitting. He’s playing tit for tat basically.

Also, I remember very distinctly (although I'm sure Chris doesn't) a tweet when he was feeling specially magnanimous and proclaimed absolute freedom for anyone to use Sonichu and profit from it without any obligations. It was ages ago, though, but it would be pure poetry to have it retweeted at him.

Ben Seems to know this to and isn't doing anything with it. I wonder if he knows how much influence he has over Chris, because so far he hasn't used it. He challenged Chris a little bit over this genocide rain thing but other than that we got nothing. This is interesting. If OCs are independent from creators, doesn't that mean that they can also appear in other media not created by the author? I doubt Chris even thought about it that far, and those rules obviously don't apply to him because he has been trying to make money from Pokémon and Sonic for the past decade, but it's fun to see Chris get mad about something more mundane again. Looks like no ammount of dimensional merge powers can stop him from sperging as usual.
