Only because it’s the general consensus online, espically in the Brony fandom because of the upcoming reboot. If Chris wasn’t trying so hard to fit in with them, I’m certain he wouldn’t care about the reboot and it’s new artstyle.

Wouldn't it be kind of pointless to telepathically share his TOUGH WORK after the Merge happens? Everyone should have poorly drawn anthropomorphic hedgehogs coming out their ears by then if what Chris says is true, and I'm sure the news stations will be running non-stop coverage of him and his shitting himself and doing nothing heroic exploits.

The thing about Chris is that in his dissonant mind he's not creating fiction, just observing real events only he's qualified to see and interpret. It's not surprising he's less motivated to draw when he can just tweet out what "happened" in the story and decide that it's the same as drawing it but with way less effort.
