- While he's not credited for it because of his 2001 firing, former Eagles lead guitarist Don Felder co-wrote several songs for their 2007 album, Long Road Out of Eden when work on the project started in 1998.
- Among those that were being considered to take up the drummer position in Led Zeppelin after John Bonham's death include Carmine Appice, Cozy Powell, Bev Bevan (of Electric Light Orchestra), Roger Taylor (of Queen), and even Phil Collins. Collins actually played drums for Zeppelin during their disastrous set on the original Live Aid. It went exactly the way you'd imagine it would.
- Heaven and Hell (the first Black Sabbath album with the late Ronnie James Dio) started off as yet another classic lineup album. Guitarist Tony Iommi claims to have a tape of Ozzy singing an early version of Children of the Sea.
