Have you ever been watching a random video of a colored individual and suddenly heard *CHIRP*? If so you can post it here.

Origin​

Dr. Drew and Adam Carolla were one of the first prominent comedians to joke about smoke detector alarms beeping after the duo noticed that several callers to their radio show Loveline would have smoke alarms chirping in the background of their call. The joke continued into a lasting bit on their radio show, with YouTuber Collapse posting one such clip from Loveline to YoutTube on June 20th, 2009, gathering over 33,000 views in 14 years (seen below). Even in addressing the "dog whistle" he has to talk around it in gay circles. No one claims Joy Reid can't afford a 9 volt battery, they're saying that she either doesn't notice, can't recognize, or can't be bothered to address the sound specifically designed to annoy you into action.

Her years/decades of being a rich celebrity would suggest it's not muh SocioEconomic Factors, and that perhaps you can take the [MSNBC hostess] out of the [constantly noisy community], but you can't take the constant noise out of the MSNBC hostess.

very funny how this dickhead explaining the "dogwhistle" doesn't himself understand the reasoning behind it. it's not that poor people can't afford batteries - most households have one smoke detector, most smoke detectors take one 9V battery, most 9V batteries last ~5 years in a smoke detector. 9V batteries cost like $3-$5. that's a few dollars every half decade. the poorest homeless dude in the world could afford that; that's the point. given that it's such a trivial problem, something that could be remedied with one trip to the store and 5 minutes of effort, something that can actually save your life in the event of an unnoticed fire, it's so mind-blowingly degen to not only choose to ignore a high-frequency audio pulse stabbing you in the brain meats every 30 seconds, but to be able to in the first place. it indicates a troubling lack of mental presence. it's goldfish brain shit. and it's funny because retards like this instruct us that poor people generally and poor black people specifically are everyone's equals in society, and they expect us to take that shit as religion, despite the fact that little idiosyncrasies like this demonstrate a deep lack of the fundamental psychological function required to build and maintain that society. they're fucking peons. they're worker NPCs. some people really do need to be kept in a retard pen and ordered around their entire lives to keep them from shitting up the place. how can they be trusted as equals if they would rather accept that chaos in their own lives instead of putting out the absolutely minimal effort required to fix it? what chaos would they see fit to inflict on everyone else's lives if given the responsibility for it?

what's even funnier is that these supposed Intellectual and Moral Superiors can't explain or even understand these sorts of things. it takes them ages to catch on and when they do, the best they can do is label it an -ism, because any kind of reasoning that leads you to disagree with their worldview can only be the result of your personal intellectual and moral failing.
 
Everyone should take a seat as I have some super racist news. The colonizing smoke alarm companies have eliminated the 9v battery feature and the new chirp signifies end of life of the smoke detector. This is going to lead to endless levels of burned bodies of color.

They recognize that it's always German Shepherds but never Irish Setters that could be used in police operations, because some living things evolve to be more intelligent and functional than other DNA subgroups of the same species... But that's it. And their brains will tell them, "People aren't dogs! They're saying black people are like animals!" And the cycle starts all over again.
 
My personal experience has been black people just don't care to the point that the chirp becomes background noise. I didn't know it was a race thing until the phenomenon blew up on the Internet.

I made trips on at least two occasions when I would pick up 9v batteries for my ex's mom's smoke detector because it was driving me insane when I was at her house. I asked about it and she was dismissive and said it didn't bother her. Apparently light bulbs are a thing they don't switch either because in the overhead lamps there was always at least one burnt out bulb.

I didn't know this. I just checked mine and you can't replace it. Although I've heard that even the old 9 volt ones lose their effectiveness after some years regardless of how many times you replace the battery.
 
I must be a supernigger because I replaced the battery all of once and then unplugged the problematic detector (that kept chirping) from the network. PL: My house was built around Y2K and has networked smoke detectors, it's the weirdest goddamned thing but it works, once one goes off they all go off

The rest (4-5) still work, it was just the one in my room that was chimping out.

I had a smoke alarm I replaced entirely start beeping the other day. It was driving me insane because I tucked it away into a closet and forgot about it, then had to use echolocation to find it.

I don't think too much about these 4chan observational humor things, but I recently called an old professor I knew and she also had a fire alarm chirping in the background. I didn't point it out to her, but I can't stop thinking about how somebody so wealthy and educated is still falling into the stereotype.

Most smoke detectors use Americium-241 radiation to detect for smoke. After a while, the radioactive element has decayed away.

Americium-241 has a half life of 432 years, so I would imagine other components in the detector are wearing out first.

These are in the house I'm renting right now. One started chirping one morning before my alarm went off and ignorant me couldn't find the battery, so I smashed it and didn't realize until I was fully awake that you were supposed to use a screwdriver to lobotomize it. Fuck those things. We replaced them all immediately.
