@Piga Dgrifm: It's the way of the world, and a way that the subject of this forum is unaware of.

A thought came to mind - what if he had been born ten years earlier? How would his life have been different?

That just makes me feel old. I'll be off weeping into my Shazzan and Jabberjaw bed sheets.

EDIT- Just remembered Swat Kats was a thing. I shouldn't feel this ancient at 29.
Sorry about that...

@JakeAnderson733: One generation's trash is the next generation's classics.

I've seen articles from the early 50s blasting Looney Tunes while upholding the Disney animation of the early 30s as works of art.
I actually like the Disney animation of the 30s and 40s a lot more than I like Looney Tunes, but I don't see why anyone would blast either of them... especially while holding the other as a work of art.

@JakeAnderson733: The article, I don't know where the hell to find it on the Internet, specifically blasts them and lauds UPA, which was the more "highbrow" alternative to the animated shorts of the day (Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Popeye, and so on).

While I like UPA's stuff it's no accident that the thing everyone remembers about them is the not-very-highbrow Mr. Magoo.

I stole a quote from TV tropes from the abusive parents trope:
"Bear in mind that not everyone agrees on the line between actual abuse and merely heavy-handed parenting(or even normal parenting). Is Moving the Goalposts merely inspiring the child to achieve more, or the most insidious form of abuse to instill mistrust and paranoia to the children? Some include spanking as abuse; others think it's appropriate given certain guidelines. Some believe it's okay to make a kid go without a meal (they won't starve that easily); others disagree. Making a kid miss a friend's birthday sleepover — is thatemotional abuse? Raising a kid without exposure to TV? Telling your daughter she's getting fat? A little friendly name-calling? There's a line here somewhere, but not everyone agrees on where it is."

He's never said a lot about anime, though; he's admitted to liking Zatch Bell but that's it.

(Off-topic, but Samurai Jack isn't anime-like unless you want to say it's reminiscent of Tezuka.)

From what I can tell, MrEnter doesn't care for reviewing non-American shows. In his Top 11 Things I'll Never Review, he acts like he'll have to do a big research project to review anime (except Zach Bell). Besides that, I don't see him talk about non-American shows much. Even the Canadian shows CN sometimes airs.

If this is true, than MrEnter is definitely a bad cartoon critic.

EDIT: About that tweet:

Dear MrEnter,

2008 ended. It's okay to not be so "LOL SO RANDOM."

Love,
KFC

I doubt Enter's really seen any anime that hasn't been featured on Toonami, Adult Swim, or presented as regular cartoons (like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, etc.). One of the main reasons he refuses to review any anime is because he claims he's not familiar enough with the cultural context. And as we know, Enter hates to do any kind of research on anything.
But anyway, if he was an anime fan he would probably consider himself knowledgeable or at least aware enough to do reviews. (Regardless of how much he would actually understand)

Plus, I don't feel like he could handle much anime beyond what's presented as children's cartoons in the west.

@Ferls: Most anime fans aren't familiar with anime except for what you stated, really, and anything new enough that it makes them seem cool.

You know how he hates gross-out and adult humor in Western cartoons? Japanese cartoons take that up to eleven. Remember that over there it's acceptable for kids' shows to be about elementary school students trying to see up their teacher's dress, and feature characters who like to wiggle their dicks around.

I agree with all of the above and would like to remind you that Enter specifically stated that the shows he reviews have to have an official English dub. Depending on the show, this presents a problem since a lot of the shows he'd most likely focus on tried to change things around so that the setting was no longer explicitly "Japanese".

Add to that the aforementioned reluctance to do research, and I'm relieved that he doesn't do anime. It'd be the Nostalgia Critic's review of Sailor Moon all over again.

Didn't you have to study thesis papers to figure out why Goku fought Frieza?
