I've been thinking lately about Chris's reaction to the Graduation. Now we know it had a big impact on him, because of Count Graduon appearing in the comic. I was just wondering if it wasn't so much his grade and lack of any extra awards that bothered Chris, more that High School and the stability it provided had now abruptly ended. There was no routine of getting on a bus, going to school, set meals, set times, and low expectations from his teachers anymore.

What we saw of his school work was constant bad grades and teachers having to point out the basics of him being useless. His whole "An F in English?!?!" meant it wouldn''t be the first time he was told his academic accomplishments were worth sweet nothing. So I pose, was it simply school ending that left him bamboozled, and the grade/lack of extra achievements was Chris trying to quantify it with his limited cognitive means?

I think it’s hard to overestimate the influence of high school ending had on Chris. Autists like their routines, and it also (mostly) meant the end of Chris socializing with his peers and having much of a life outside of 14 Branchland act. and his imaginary comic world.

Its one of the few times I genuinely sympathize with him, since it was also to an extent not the result of Chris fucking up.

The end of HS meant that Chris was adrift, without having been taught the tools of socializing outside of the “forced” socialization of HS.

The school system failed Chris here, just like Barb and Bob did. You get the impression of a school that’s cognizant enough of Chris’s “special status” to lower the bar for him and let him skate by on shit-tier work... But not taking his autism seriously enough to teach him the skills he needed outside of HS.

Ideally Chris should have been sent to a boarding school following the end of HS. A place that offered a mixed HS/college program and a strong emphasis on independent living and coping skills.

He'd be too lazy to do 30 second videos. If he did, the first 20 seconds would be him thinking what to say, and the last ten would be him trying to fit in the words "Captain's log... and such"

He'd then hate Pmurt for taking it away, pull out a trading card from his shipping deck of C64 christine berating Trump for it ending, somehow expecting this to bring Tiktok back, and then he'd consider this a sufficient obligation to his patrons.

Speaking of... One thing that has always puzzled me is this: You know how Chris, with very few exceptions, never uses a script or notes for his videos?

Why?

Is it regular laziness? Or Chris’s weird belief that everything he makes is perfect and doesn’t need revision. To the point where he just draws and colors his comics and never makes drafts?

He certainly used it for the Dr Wolf video. I love how he had so much self worship he had to pen it down. You can hear him turning the pages.

If Chris was born like 30 years earlier. The military might had been his future after HS. Military recruitment requirements were lower back then. He would've ended up in McNamara's 100,000, and fought side by side with Forrest Gump, and getting awarded the Medal of Honor.

Wasn’t that program a huge failure? I think I saw a YouTube video recently about the army recruiting all these speds and mostly regretting it.

While Chris isn’t exactly combat material, I could see him peel potatoes or drive a truck back and forth. Maybe some maintenance work.

It actually might have worked out!

Chris would have had the structure he sorely needed after HS and parental figures who didn’t asspat him 24-7. The peer pressure and watchful eye of NCOs would insure that he didn’t slack off all the time and Chris could have learned some work ethics.

He might even have picked up a little Vietnamese package to turn into a sweetheart from the ground up and we could have had some halfie Crystal and Christian running around who hopefully didn’t inherit Chris’s slow mind.

Ah, what could have been!

Chris could of had a lot of uses.

1) Recon - send him out 20 minutes ahead of everybody else. He'll get lost, shout JULAAAAAAY, and attract the NVA. Then the main body counter-attacks
2) Mine and Booby Trap Clearance - Send him out 10 paces ahead of the engineers.
3) Counter Insurgency - Have him sit outside a cafe in Saigon with an attraction sign looking for boyfriend-free VC.
4) Weapon of Mass Autism - Let Chris become a POW, and bore the guards with talk about the merge, leading to a drop in morale.
5) Medic - Due to Chris spending every penny he makes on whores, there'll be less V.D for the rest of the platoon.
6) Morale - Troops will surely re-up for a second tour if Chris offers to turn their dog tags into Sonichu medallions.
7) Base Designer - Using his CADD design, Chris Chan turns every base into a mall. Not very secure from a defensive point of view, but then, why would Charlie blow up their nearest Get-Tar store, or food court?
VIII) Hearts and Minds - Chris could win over the general populace by reminding them wars get you prickly wicklies, and capitalism gets you warm fuzzy wuzzies.

Or more likely, he'd call the first black soldier he sees a nigger, get his ass beat, and go into prone hedgehog defense mode the second he has to have his girly hair shaved. The only difference between it and the first act of Full Metal Jacket would be the drill instructor shooting Chris in the head, then himself. Then Paul Hardcastle would have to change his iconic 80s dance tune to say "the average IQ was 19"

Either that or he torches the first village to call him Ian Brandon Anderson.

This may be More suited to the Doug Walker thread but..how can Chris and Doug be the same age (and Doug seems to be in better shape thinner at least) but Chris doesn't have one grey hair yet Doug's beard his already going white and he's presumably shaved his head due to hair loss.

Sure Chris has gone through hrt which aside rogaine would make a great baldness treatment but as some have speculated it doesn't seem to be working for him very much possibly due to ignoring his dosage. And there's that fact Walker has lead a legitimately stressful Life CTC and all the BS done to him would presumably make a man start to go grey from stress. Actual stress not Chris's version of stress aka being told to leave places he's banned from, being emailed pictures of rosechu with a dick and being blocked by the one community he felt would accept him unconditionally

In his sonichu last will and testament video you can see that he is continuing to bald. His hair line has receded to right above his ears, and the top of his head has thinned considerably. I'm not sure about grey hair because of the dye he uses.

lol, I was wondering about it too because I was curious how he'd react or handle it. I guess he hasn't confronted the issue yet, and probably won't until he gets to a point where he can't hide it and becomes more evident. Until then he'll continue to think he has the hair of a sailor moon character.
