Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

Late for the party, but the for all part, in the western world anyway, can't really say the Dalits of India got the same kind of choise really. But don't let me derail...

Casteism still exists in India (and Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc) but its hardly what it was decades ago. There are quite a few affirmative action programs designed to help dalits, tribals and other low caste individuals. Heck, one of the former Presidents of India, K. R. Narayanan, was an "untouchable." So is Devyani Khobragade, the diplomat who got caught up in that row a while back. It's part of the reason that so many Indians rallied to her support.

So the lesson here is that even the lowest untouchable has more potential to better his or her life than Chris does, despite not living in poverty (yet), being relatively young and healthy (for now) and ostensibly living in one of the freest countries on earth.

"Why'd I waste all dat munny creamatin' Bob when Chrissuhn could do it fer the price of a coffee maker!?! Dayum funeral parlor's cheatin' me!"

Yeah, this is sad either way.

Bad: Bob's cremated remains are added to the Horde.
Worse: Bob's corpse is added to the Horde.

[edited for good taste, though the quote makes a little less sense without it]

Its alright guys, Bob got buried. The Chandlers would never go through the cremating process.

Barb is a hoarder with serious mental health issues, this much I know, but I doubt that even she is crazy enough to horde a dead body of all things.

Chris, to Regina (who is Czech):

"And I welcome and respect your patriotism for your country as well; you have every right as you were born and raised in it. :)"

This just makes me writhe for some reason. I can't explain it.

OSHIT GUYS I JUST FOUND THIS FROM CHRIS

My mother originally wanted to be a teacher

WHAT IF

also:

I've played football for a short while at High School, but I was not all that into it. And during that time in the P.E. class, I was placed on special request on the girl's team, which was better; I did not care to be tackled or rough-housed like they did on the boy's team.

I don't know if she was OK with Megan or not, but I rather suspect not. But Bob was still around and there wasn't really much Barb could have done and I think Chris kept a lot of his spending on Megan a secret from Barb and I'm not certain Barb even ever thought of Megan as anything more than one of Chris' friends from that toy store. Certainly Megan and Chris never dated or gave Barb any indication Megan was heartsweet material. After Chris' trouble at the Game Place started, however, Barb definitely put Megan in the troll category.

I don't know if Barb is even aware of the Hambeast or the Wallflower. We only know of the Hambeast from a few photographs at a bar and the Wallflower probably blended in with the collection of Chris' other internet heartsweets. I don't think Barb bothered to distinguish between most if them.

It depends on Barb's motives. Barb not wanting Chris to have a heartsweet to protect Chris is one thing (and an unlikely thing), but Barb selfishly wanting to keep Chris single and all to her self to be her q-sand servant and bedwarmer (*squick*) and a mobile part of her hoard is something else entirely.

Fair enough I suppose. But I think you are creating a bit of a false dichotomy. Motivations are complicated and it doesn't have to be entirely one or the other.

My maint point is we have no evidence of Barb ever doing anything to interfere with any of Chris genuine "friendships" or "relationships". He was getting trolled, she as his mother tried to stop the trolling. Maybe she should have tried harder or tried different things.

It's just hard for me to say "Barb was wrong and selfish to tell Chris his heartsweets were trolls" when they were in fact trolls.

See, I see what you're saying, but I think you're wrong. I think A-№1 had it right. It's not that it's provably false that Barb was just hoarding Chris, rather, I think it was just unlikely she was doing anything to help Chris with the trolls. Bob didn't do anything either, until it reached proportions where it would threaten their lives (the house tour video).

And I don't blame them, they barely know anything about the internet. Or rather, they absolutely don't know anything about the internet. To them, "trolling" probably just sounds like teasing, and they can just tell Chris to stay home, to avoid getting teased. Problem solved.

If you, like me and many others, firmly believe that Chris is incapable of having a sweetheart, it may be a little hypocritical to blame Barb for not wanting him to have one.

I believe he's capable of having a sweetheart. Albeit a handicapped one, and he's said he dosn't want that. Thus dooming the fuck quest on day one.

That's true for most people, but Barb is demonstrably uncomplicated. Her motivations are likewise uncomplicated. I don't think Barb even distinguishes between trolls and potential heartsweets and bad girls who are trying to take her babby Chrisshun away from her. They are all one and the same to her thinking.

I could say more, but I'd mostly be repeating what Marvin said two posts up.

You know how Chris did that "ad" for those "BOLDY SPICY" wings a while back? How spicy were they compared to that "Sriracha" sauce (the red sauce with the rooster logo that TheOatmeal likes)?

Which is the hallmark of an unhealthy relationship. I know some people have talked about him snuggling with his mom, and while people have debated as to how incestuous their relationship may or may not be, the fact remains that its still weird. And its certainly not something you should be telling your 'gal pals.' Its no wonder he has such screwed up views on sex.

Anyway, I was joking referencing Lovecraft on another thread, and it go me thinking. What exactly has Chris read? Quite frankly, he doesn't seem like a prolific reader, and if he's read much of anything since high school I would be genuinely shocked. That's why I didn't ask what Chris' literary tastes are; he likely hasn't read enough to have any. Obviously we know Chris read the Goosebumps books, as well as To Kill a Mockingbird (though he seems to conflate it with Of Mice and Men, which might mean he read that book too, or at least was assigned it) and the wiki mentions A Warm Fuzzy Tale. Anything else? There are a ton of childrens' books out there... did he ever read Where the Wild Things Are, The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Dr. Seuss?

I feel like Chris' choices in reading might surprise us. Not because I expect something deep or profound, but rather because Chris has an interesting way of latching onto relatively obscure phenomena. Yes, he certainly likes popular things like Pokemon, MLP, Sonic, Family Guy and such, and he makes a point of claiming to like "all popular music," but he also has quite a few things most people wouldn't even know. The American Rabbit, Samurai Pizza Cats and the Ghostbusters. Is it possible there's some weird, obscure young adult novel he's picked up on? Or am I giving him too much credit here?

Also, I'm kind of surprised that Chris doesn't read comics. I mean, yeah, I know he has an aversion to violence which might cut down on some... but on the other hand Chris also loves him some China and there are no shortage of mainstream comics with oversexualized female characters in tight fitting and/or revealing costumes. If he has a crush on Meg Griffin and faps to Sailor Moon, then why wouldn't Marvel, DC, Image or Dark Horse appeal to him? Heck, publishers like Zenescope are all about comic boobs! Or, again, is it too much for him to follow word bubbles? I won't even get into manga.

Those books are far too advanced for him.

The "Megan Shrine" had some manga in it, from what I recall from the pictures on the CWCki.

Yeah, but I just assumed he got those Megan in the first place. Heck, knowing Chris, he'd have trouble figuring out he had to read those from right to left.
