I was just going by his term, which I think is broader. He's "quit the Internet" several times and I just kind of wonder why he maintains an online presence and exposes himself to the trolls (no pun intended).

My guess, apart from the wanting-to-talk-about-himself mentioned earlier is the simple need for human interaction. As he doesn't have any social outlets, it's probably the only way he gets to talk to anyone other than Barb and the McD's servers.

Chris really hates people talking shit about him. My impression is that when he "quits the internet" he kind of expects that everyone here will say "Oh, Chris has left the internet, let's move on". Then he beclomes aware, maybe by lurking here, maybe by people contacting him, that that hasn't happened.
My guess is he has often been given the advice "If you just ignore them, they will move on". It has some merit, but Chris takes it way too literally, and expectts instantaneous and complete moving on.
When that doesn't happen he goes back on the internet to correct the record. He flames us for a while, and then eventually becomes convinced to leave it alone and the cycle continues.

Not to mention Chriscussion still absolutely dwarfs all non-offtopic sections of the site.
Even if the Chris part of the forums were hidden from public view, his asspats probably have accounts here and would be able to inform him that people are still discussing him. I don't know if he particularly cares about people talking him anymore, or if he's accepted that he can milk some serious dough from this forum but he has to also bear the inconvience of people talking smack of him.
However, Marvin commented in another thread that this was asked in that Chris hasn't been chimping in Facebook about it so it's just assumed that they got an extension.
No idea if that's actually the case but for the moment no-one seems to have any concrete intel to suggest otherwise.

Charb are also lazy and unless somebody is immediately getting after them they'll just go back to their routine of forgetting and ignoring their problems.
Normal people forget important shit all the time, it could just be that they both forgot.
Or it could also be that Barb realized the it was pointless to bitch at Chris about the evil insurance company because 1) he's not really capable of helping her and 2) he's not that great of a listener.

Chris will half-arse anything even if he invests himself into it deeply, so I'm betting on the former. No, wait, not even half-arse, more like 1/10-arse.
I mean, he was passionate back in the day about his art but refused to use anything more than Crayola markers, and refused to use a ruler.

Barb is crazy and combative, but not really forgetful. And nah, Chris is the donkey Barb whips into carrying her up the mountain. As long as he serves that purpose (which he does), she's not going to stop.

Eh, I think the deadline was "end of the summer," which is technically the 22nd but that may be interpreting it too literally.

Even though Chris is far from being mentally retarded, would it be safe to assume that his IQ might be slightly below average or at least dull average (below 100, possibly in the lower 90s)?

IIRC the autism papers said he's pretty normal intellectually. No actual retardation or anything. Chris is an idiot, but that's different from being medically retarded or mentally ill. He also isn't delusional, just an incompetent egotist with a chip on his shoulder and no understanding of how social interaction/cause and effect work.
