What if Barb died instead of Bob and he was still alive today?
Definite results of Bob living and Barb dying:
- Chris's house wouldn't have burned down considering how the hoarding got so bad after Bob died that they were using the bathroom as a kitchen substitute
- Bob would've at least
attempted to make Chris get his shit together. How successful such endeavours would be are another matter entirely
- Chris would still identify as a man if for no other reason than because of the fact that he's afraid of his father's disapproval of his tomgirl tendencies.
- This would also mean that Chris wouldn't be free to liberally butter himself up with black market menopause ointment... or slice open his taint because he thinks he's growing a vagina.
- Chris wouldn't have tried killing Michael Snyder considering how it was a joint effort between Barb and Chris in the first place
- Bob's pension, combined with his Social Security and Chris's disability payments would starve off any financial troubles the household would have for a time considering how Bob wasn't a hoarder and had
some sense with how to handle money. Given that, Chris would have no reason to e-beg on YouTube and Patreon.
Possible outcomes of Bob living and Barb dying:
- Barb's death would probably have even more of an impact on Chris. Bob's death sparked a major turning point, however Barb was always the one who would praise Chris on his nonexistent intelligence and his nonexistent good looks. Let's not forget that she was always his biggest enabler. Whether or not Chris would've spiralled into depression or lash out in other ways is to be determined, however.
- Bob's relationship with Chris would probably go sour extremely quickly. Though Bob was also guilty of enabling Chris's behaviour, Barb was always the one who actively coddled and manipulated Chris, especially toward the end of Bob's own lifetime. Bob's death functioned as a "removal" of restrictions on Chris's life, so it stands to reason that Barb's death in place of Bob's would mean that Chris would have his freedoms restricted.
- Without the house burning down, weens and a-logs probably wouldn't have rummaged through his garbage to find old documentation. Though that would change if Bob demanded that Chris clean up the house, in which case weens/a-logs would probably have a field day digging through the trash to find old documentation among other such things when they start dumping shit out on the curb.
- We probably wouldn't have found out about Chris's disturbing relationship with his mother the way we did, considering how the house burning down gave Barb and Chris a reason to
share the same goddamn bed and spoon occasionally. With that said, Chris's tendency to give out unwanted information about his personal life at that point in time would mean we'd probably have other revelations about other unknown aspects of his life... really, it's only a matter of time if that was the case.
Questions that may always remain unanswered either way:
- Would Chris still blame Megan for a parent's death over 5 years after their fallout?
- Would Chris still mace a GameStop employee over the Sonic Boom shit?
- Would Chris still go on ebay, Etsy, and other such websites and sell shoddy, homemade Sonichu merchandise?
- Would Bob
truly be the lesser of the two evils? He's certainly more competent than Barb, but we never quite knew what Bob was like if left up to his own devices.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
