Not really too random but I don't know where else to put this.
I was at an alternative craft/arts fair (not uncommon to see internet subcultures) and I saw someone selling Sonichu stuff. I did not want to out myself as knowing about Chris but I can't believe people out there would sell that shit or even try to advertise to others about Chris.

You sure it was Sonichu? I've encountered people cosplaying as Chris and they include a Super Sonic plush, which is basically Sonichu without the tail.

From what I've seen over the past decade*, not really. He did his "feats of strength" to intimidate trolls and prove himself worthy of his various sweethearts' love. He's gone to a few events (I'm not sure if one would count it as a sport, but a motocross stunt show before the Greene County Conspiracy video comes to mind) when he's won tickets from radio stations and things like that.

Chris really is unwilling to do the former and probably incapable of doing the latter so what's the explanation for him still having his benefits after all this time?

I thought he was on SSI. A requirement for SSDI is that you have to have payed in with taxes for a certain length of time which Chris never did because he's never worked long enough.
