Since it’s Chris I assume the girlfriend would be more lower functional than him and it’d be a friends with benefits situation rather than anything serious.

How he views reality. During the Classic Saga he interacted with a shadowy Troll cabal led by a Guido, had his girlfriend kidnapped by her evil twin brother and went on a rescue attempt, was in contact with Nintendo bigwigs, had a man in a pickle costume steal his girlfriend, had an evil twin who tried to steal his identity, had someone ripoff his comic, interacted with celebrities, called a cartoon Hawaiian man a racial slur for black people, had trolls put out a bounty on his game console, and later uncovered all of their identities and was going to expose them to the world.

The whole thing played out like a soap opera or a comic book and Chris believed everything that was happening. If you or I heard that our evil twin was trying to steal our identity we would think it was a joke but Chris was convinced to believe that Liquid really was trying to steal his identity. Chris took the ridiculous things that happened in his life and thought it was all true. He was so sheltered and raised by cartoons that he readily accepted a world straight out fiction. Even now he still lives in a delusional state where he is a prophet and a beloved celebrity. He lives in a fictional world and everyone is watching it play out in real life.

Would they have just ended up as some random tard doing tard shit in the privacy of their own home? Would they have ever gotten so desperate for female attention that they would force themselves on their mother? Would they have trooned out? Maybe him having sex with Barb would have happened sooner since before Chris was discovered by the internet he was still being tricked by people and making a fool out himself publicly but there was no catfishing by women, women who despite being blatant trolls he considers actual exes, so he may have become even more desperate over time leading to him just harassing and stalking random women before finally raping/having sex with Barb after Bob died and she became increasingly senile and dependant on Chris giving him the opportunity to do so.

He did have a tails stand-in. The name was evetails and it's one of the Pokémon cards in the wall of fail. But as abarefiller said, knowing Chris kids would've definitely claimed tails as sonic's gay lover. And Sonichu having a possible homo sweetheart that could drive him off the straight and narrow path of heterosexuality is no good.

Autism is primarily a social deficiency. Most people literally function fine and dandy and you wouldn't even know it. It's due to the lack of social skills that leads them to doing stupid shit that's hilarious.

Chris is 100% aware of his actions and who he is. Best example is his "Rollin and trollin" video. He knows who he should be and what he should do. It's that he doesn't give a fuck and it's a culmination of his actions and psyche why he's always in these predicaments.

Trolls did more good than bad. Sure there were bad apples, but really the only ones who did harm were bluespike, idea guys, and Bella. If it weren't for the trolls Chris would've been on the streets much earlier, especially without the care package after the house fire.

Chris at his core is a selfish, narcissistic person who expected the world to bend to his will, I believe had he not been discovered by that anon at the Game Place he would have revealed himself to the internet in some way shape or form. His ego and his want to be famous would have inevitably lead him down to uploading videos on Youtube, now would he be as BIG? That question is up to the "well is he found by 4chan or not" question, but I very much doubt he would have been able to keep quiet.

As for forcing himself on Barb? That is a much more sensitive and nuanced topic than I want to admit, but something tells me that Chris' mind was so warped and rotted by pornography anyway that he might have done so anyways. Remember Chris is no stranger to incest or the idea of acting on incestous ideas, so perhaps without the trolls he would have gotten to desperate he would have, but that hypothetical could just lead down a dark hole of other hypotheticals like, would he have sexually assaulted someone? I’ve never believed that the “get in touch with your feminine side” comment was more than the straw that broke the camel’s back (if it happened at all). Chris was always bad at and uncomfortable with being a man. The idea of socially transitioning without any kind of real commitment would have hit him one way or another if he had access to the internet. With all of Chris' engagement with the trolls, he could've left at any time. Yet he chose to keep on engaging them. People have warned him about it, even Barb. As you said, it was his ego. Anytime Chris flexed his ego in public places, he was either warned or forcibly removed for loitering/vandalizing. On the net, he knew there were no repercussions, so he acted out as much as he could. Unfortunately by the time the idea guys came around, Chris became more brazen, like punching his own mother.

Even though Chris tries to fit in to society, he can't help but to force people around him to accept his antics because of years of conditioning by his parents because he's 'special' no one can touch him. Chris touched Barb, and look where he is now.

Is it too late to cure Chris of his ego? Probably not; Chris is too entrenched in his delusions to really stop. Every time he says "I need to improve" it's always lip service/face value to his enablers. Chris can play goddess/sonichu/jesus all he wants, but there will be a time where he can't rely on his coping/ego.
