"New Age" beliefs not only claim that "psychic powers" are real and encourages people to develop them, but also claims that science and history really agree with "New Age" beliefs, such as crystals having "magic" powers, or Atlantis being real. "New Agers" like to use science-y sounding terms like "vibration" and "energy", so one who believes in "New Age" can think they're smarter than they are. Sorta like how a certain lolcow tries to sound edumacated by using big words, but ends up sounding stupid.
And of course there's the apparent lack of a moral code, which can be along with a focus instead on "spiritual platitudes" such as vaguely defined love. Also "reincarnation" is a big part of "New Age" spirituality, which that lolcow has believed in even before he said "meh" to Christianity. "New Age" can also be very consumerist, what with all the books and crystals and outrageous fees for "psychic" services. So-called "New Age" really does seem like the perfect fit to an egotistical imbecile who wants promiscuity, adultery, and even incest to be "okay, well, and good", wants to sound like he's smart, and wants to be God, while thinking this world is full of "psychic powers" and other "magic" ("herp derp just like Mary Poppins and Pokemon!").
Christianity usually teaches serving a more powerful God, rather than becoming God. I've heard Christians argue that "New Age" even echoes what the serpent said in the Garden of Eden. Not good to the bloated ego of a certain lolcow. Also God (and the bear) weren't bringing "Honor Roll" a "Sweetheart from the Ground-Up" while also making the world kiss his ass (ew). No wonder that freak turned to "New Age" (there's even a "New Age" belief in gaining "Christ consciousness" or something like that).
