Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

I don't know if Chris has answered this directly, but I wonder if he would be willing (hypothetically) to date a (fellow?) transwoman?

Would it be fair to assume that Borb stayed together for Chris' sake?

I honestly always felt like it was more a matter of habituation. No one likes to be alone, especially people in the twilight years of their lives. They probably didn't like each other very much, but it was better than having no one.

I think that is exactly right. Firstly, they come from a generation with defined male and female roles running a household. Where being married was the default option.

Also, why would they get divorced or separate? Both of them had reached the point where finding someone else was unlikely. They didn't have a lot of money between them so the additional costs would have been a burden. They had a son who would have been a lot of extra work for whichever one he lived with.

They seemed to find the best possible solution, given their limited alternatives. Remain living together, but stay out of each others way a lot of the time. Do occassional things like going out for lunch to stave off loneliness.

How did Chris pass his driving test? Driving tests over here are very difficult with a high failure rate. There's no way someone as distracted and absent-minded as Chris could pass it. Are Virginia driving tests really easy or something?

Driving tests are very easy throughout the United States.

Things are very spaced out where Chris lives -14 Branchland Court is miles from a proper grocery store. Public Transportation is inadequate throughout the US, and nonexistent in places like Ruckersville, so cars are seen as a necessity, not a luxury nor a privilege.

I agree with this. And I don't think Chris' driving is seriously problematic. He has a fairly clean driving record (as far as I know there was one parking lot fender bender and the Snyder incident) and his cautious driving has been remarked on. I think he should be allowed to drive.

If he wasn't able to drive, he would have to move (ignoring the Barb factor, of course) and live somewhere like an apartment in Charlottesville proper. If he lived by a bus stop within a mile or so of a grocery store and a couple fast food outlets, his life without a car might actually be more pleasant. Instead of taking his "daily walks" around Target, he could take them outside. A little more exercise, a little less isolation, a little more interaction with the world.

Also, an apartment wouldn't be nearly as much work to take care of, and there would be a huge yard to go to shit and be an eyesore.

How about the abusive babysitter and Chris' supposed first word?
you're probably not asking me but i may as well answer ;)

abusive babysitter: kids start saying one-syllable words that make sense in context by the time they're about a year old ("mama" "dada"). abusive babysitter incident supposedly happened when he was 18 months old, or 1.5 years. autistic kids may start to develop speech, and then stop talking completely, or they might not start developing speech until they're already kindergarten age. because chris was too young to remember this incident himself, i'm gonna guess barbara fed him this story to explain why his speech development was arrested

first word: as mentioned, kids don't start making intelligible words until they're 11-14 months old. babies' brains and mouths are not developed enough at 6 weeks to make words. even if he slipped up and meant 6 months, that's not possible, either. sounds like another barbara story she told him because her little man is advanced for his age

Yep it's a Barb story held as gospel by Chris. But I think it's a little unreallistic to say it has no basis in a real event, I have seen lot's of new parents think that there kid tried to say something when it was just unintelligible baby sounds most of them calm down an laugh about it as the baby isn't capable of speech for months. But Barb being Barb an Chris being Chris he was essentially giving the Gettysburg address at a year old untill the abusive babysitter got involved... which is it's own pile of shit.

never said that. i had a babysitter as a kid who was an enormous fucking cunt, but the difference is i was 7 or 8 years old, when my brain was developed enough to hold onto that memory

also, neither barb nor bob were new parents when chris came around, they both had kids from other marriages

Sorry I know I quoted you but it wasn't intended to sound that way I think you have taken it I was responding to it in general as a possible explanation as to his's claims origins.

Am I the only one who thinks the "abusive babysitter and School staff" is slight BS? I mean, Chris has over exaggerated stuff before where he would make someone look like Lucifer if he didn't get his way...

And do you think he has had the slightest interest in superhero movies like Batman and Avengers? I was always curious about this because despite all the stuff he enjoyed, he never once mentioned superheroes.
The only think I can think off that remotely suggests such an interest is in his Shopping spree video where the scanner said something about a batman game.

He's made references to sonic, mario, games, movies, shows and even Star Trek, so I kind of find it hard to believe that he would just ignore it.

Just my five sense.
