I personally agree with this sentiment. Bob seemed cool in the videos he made an appearance in as well as actually putting his foot down at one point by disconnecting the modem during an incident Chris embarrassed himself. However, that doesn't excuse the fact that both he & Barb failed to put Chris through rigorous counselling during the years that it would've made the most impact. Barb definitely coddled the hell out of Chris and didn't let him experience the same types and amounts of pain that would normally be experienced by regular children. If Chris was as high-functioning as he claimed, he should've been able to handle it.

Of the two, Bob was certainly the better parent, but he also had his own failings. Perhaps the biggest one was paying Chris' gal-pals in high school so they would hang out with him. This probably prevented Chris from learning how to naturally make friends and socialize, as well as make him feel socially entitled. It's also worth keeping in mind that Bob and Chris lived separate from Barb while Chris was in middle school, so there was a period of time where it was just Bob parenting. At the same time, Bob was also old as dirt and didn't understand autism, so he likely wouldn't have succeeded in raising Chris either way.

However, Bob was also the glue that held Chris' fragile life together. As you pointed out:

Chris:

1. hit Mike with his car, which she was present for, and then the 2 tried to flee from the cops
2. set the house on fire because both he and Barb refused to address their hording problems
3. maced the Store Manager at a Gamestop that he was banned from (which Barb was technically aware of as she was in the Fashion Mall at the time getting lunch)
4. got himself banned from several OTHER stores for defacing property during the Sonic Boom release because he was pissed of about Sonic having blue arms
5. went back to being perpetually online
6. started " meeting " women again (where at least Bob was present to make sure nothing funny went on)
7. started more or less scamming people over eBay by not fulfilling orders, then getting pissed off when people reported him

and GOD knows what else. Like as soon as Bob died shit just started hitting the fan.

It really is incredible just how much everything fell apart soon after. There's a reason people have grown attached to Bob. For all of his failings as a parent, he was still the man of the house and tried to keep everything under control even in his old age.

Shit like this makes me wanna feel sorry for him until I remember all the genuinely terrible shit he's done

Yeah, I meant that more in the sense of Bob failing to raise Chris so he could have a healthy social life, I just didn't word it that well. The truth didn't come out until 2013 when Chris was already an adult, but even so the whole situation is totally fucked up.

Like... all the good memories he had were just shattered. Can you imagine finding out that the best parts of your life were just a lie that was fueled by your parents? The people who are supposed to be nurturing you into a productive member of society? Even people that aren't autistic would experience some fucking trauma from that.

Chris constantly talks about his high school years being the happiest years of his life, so much so he based the main villain in Sonichu off the concept of graduating high school. And then he finds out much later that it wasn't real.

We all know that trolls have basically toyed around with Chris for years and warped his perception of reality, but frankly his parents were doing it way before the trolls came into the picture. It's disturbing just how much of Chris' life was an illusion dreamt up for him by other people. Is it really any wonder he's decided to retreat into his own fantasyland?

Yeah, there's no reason for anyone to contact her. Chris hasn't been affiliated with that church for quite some time, so it's not like they'll have anything to say about him that we don't already know. But weens will be weens.

With hindsight, I think Bob would have really looked at Chris during his graduation and held off of enrolling Chris at PVCC. Even after his antics and outburst at MLW, things went downhill. Bob should have bit the bullet and gone for the "institutionalization" to keep Chris doing stuff like he did. He even dragged his parents into the paranoia by accusing people like Megan and Snyder into being trolls, and the concept of trolling in general to only apply to Chris; Bob and Barbara probably didn't know that trolling effects everyone (if that person allows them, inevitably like Chris ended up doing).

Anyways, I was telling my mother about Chris-Chan's exploits, and she reminded me of the character from the Bold and the Beautiful. Brooke Forrester. She slept her way to an entire family, she slept with both of her daughter's boyfriends, and conceived a child with one. She's slept with her sister's husband...and she still manages to get everyone to love her at the end of the day. She's the most popular character, and the writers force the other characters to act as if sunshine and rainbows fly out of her ass. She reminds me of Chris....not because Chris is beautiful, seductive, or a woman, but because Chris does sexual deviant shit and people excuse it and go on to treat him like a God.

Yeah but women are often more subtle when it comes to social situations compared to men who are more direct and anything that's not obvious just flies over Chris's head.

Plus post love-quest it probally came down to something as simple as Chris wanted to have sex with women while with men he doesn't have much use for them unless they're giving Chris money, white knighting for him or they're one of those people he watches on YouTube or something.

LOL people keeping up to date on the normal people who have found themselves entangled with Chris just fucking kills me. Rocky, Megan, Michael Snyder. Just normal, every day people, who would have lived their entire lives without anyone outside of their community ever knowing about them. But they are known throughout the world because of Chris. Like imagine the weirdest, most annoying or whatever person that you know somehow becoming notorious on the internet, and people discussing you, and possibly contacting you for your insight on them. Like I can just imagine one day coming across a wiki type page with my name, pics, personal information, what my interaction with the oddball was. People wondering what my thoughts are, about their latest misadventure. The idea of it is hilarious, although I am super happy that I am not experiencing the reality of it.
