Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

Didn't seem worthy of its own thread, so I merged the thread into this one.

I love how Chris still hasn't identified that Sonichu is quite a niche market which only needs to be promoted online. I mean I doubt he'll get one single sale from somebody picking up a flyer in the bathroom in Charlottesville and deciding to get some Sonichu merchandise for their child over Christmas time, it's really time wasted and I wouldn't be surprised if he got himself into some kind of trouble dropping leaflets off around the places he's been banned from...

So I found this image just now:

I don't know what it's about, but I'm pretty sure it's not about Sonichu.

Google Translate thinks it's Uzbek and comes out with "chu attitude to what particularly aj."

Which, judging by the focus on attitude and the general incomprehensibility, suggests that it's one of Chris' Facebook posts.

This is going to the most magical September ever, isn't it? Chris is drawing again, going out and promoting Sonichu, slowly ensuring his addition to a neighborhood watch list...

....and late October is going to be shitty as always for Chris :heart-empty:

I mean, if the past is any indicator of the future, Halloween and the dates around it seem to be unlucky for our beloved lolcow.

It's pride week in C-Ville. This weekend is the annual pride festival that Chris went to last year, wearing the same purple MLP ponies he would later wear when he maced a guy, and when he danced on stage at OmegaCon a few weeks ago. Seems like just yesterday. Our little girl's all growed up.

So anyhow, Chris will either go or he won't go.

Does Chris realize he's an internet laughing stock and that people are buying his stuff ironically or for a piece of christory, or does he really think the masses love Sonichu and the rest of his work?

He realizes trolls are buying these, but he doesn't care cuz he's getting one over on them by taking their money.

I think it's kind of in the middle, in that he's aware there's trolls out there who buy his stuff. But he's also got tons of weens who pester him telling him how they're huge fans and love his work. Chris knows not to trust these weens with anything serious, he's been burned by that enough in the past. But he'll think that at least some of them are legit fans, even if a bunch of them are just fucking with him.

This is technically correct, but where Chris fucks it up is the scale. He probably thinks that like 70% of the weens are legit fans, where it's more like only 1 or 2 are legit fans. (Like kengle and watermelon or someone.)

Every single time I read in my head when Chris uses the word "Lesbian", I swear I read it in a very strange, childlike Chris voice.

It's like every time he says it, there is this inflection in his voice saying something like "HHHLLLL-esbian!" It's like Chris seems constantly excited to be describing himself this way, and it will probably be so from now on.

He's doing this to increase his possibility of pussy from 50% of the population to a wopping 51% of the population. No guy I have ever heard of has this kind of commitment and sacrifice.

On the other hand, the original source of his sales is him being a bombastic weirdo. If he never did things like that he wouldn't be a lolcow. And then he would have no sales.

The more interesting Christory he generates the higher his sales are. If he does goofy marketing ploys IRL he might end up increasing his sales from online followers

I wonder just how aware Chris is of the last statement though. I mean he knows the people who troll him buy his merchandise and care about getting the comics but honestly if he was aware the more notorious he was online the more sales he'd make then I think he'd go back to crazy Youtube videos. I do agree though that if it wasn't for him being so bizarre and funny then he'd have no sales however, things like the flyer idea can only help in the online respect.

I get the sense Chris is fairly concerned about maintaining what he perceives as his dignity. He does things like declining commissions he doesn't like. I don't know how likely he is to make a video advertising his store, but if he does, he will be careful to do it in a way that he thinks is not embarrassing.

He isn't willing to be a trained monkey for money. Which certainly makes things funnier, because he thinks the things he does are well done good ideas. And might actually increase demand in the long run. If he just made a fool of himself on purpose people would laugh for a couple minutes and then move on.

Depends on how desperate he is for the cash. A few months ago he made that Hitler medallion (albeit passive aggressively). Right now he's got a good set up where people are basically paying him ten dollars for a doodle. He isn't nearly hungry enough to anything crazy.
Honestly right now would be the perfect time for a video. With everyone riding high on an asspatting binge he'd probably not even get anyone laughing at him.

I think the issue is that what Chris finds distasteful or humiliating is a little off-kilter. So he might do a Hitler medallion, but he isn't going to do an Asperchu one.

And I think if he does a video now it will be pretty boring and not particularly laugh worthy. He'll just say "buy my crap" in a way that is unnecessarily long and incoherent. Then we can spend days analysing whether some object in the background is actually a can of mace or whether the fact that he paused and looks confused at a certain point means that he secretly wants to take it up the ass from a man. It will be fun..
