SJWs aren't the Left's Evangelicals, if for no other reason than the Evangelicals are a reliable voter base. They're also often single-issue voters about things like abortion, so you have to only appease one issue to get them onside, while SJWs require you to adopt dozens of stances they agree with or they'll feel like they can't support you. Many SJWs - by no means all, but many - don't understand that they might be 'voting against' someone; they instead have to 'vote for', and will either require ideological purity from a candidate or they won't vote, or fit the candidate they're voting for into their ideological requirements even if that takes severe mental contortions. cf Hillary.
Evangelicals understand the 'lesser of two evils' of a two-party system. Like SJWs they're usually hyper-partisan, but Evangelicals are usually easier to predict on a case-by-case basis, which is useful for politics, and they're a solid turnout as long as you say abortion is bad and your favourite book is the Bible. Trump knew that well enough to pay lip service to the Bible occasionally, even though there's no way he's actually read it, regards it as his favourite book, or is anything more than nominally religious.
tl;dr: 'Get woke go broke' also applies to politics.
