I fail to see the logic here. Just because the villain has more in common with this hypathical amputee child, the child would have more interest in the villain? There's more that this kid could like about them other than their physical condition. What if that child likes them because their sympathic? What if they think their powers and abilites are cooler than the hero's? What if they agree with their motivations?

Man, I understand dealing with people can be frustrating and exhausting and having to explain the same shit over and over is a fucking drag, but approaching it like it's a chore that has to be done for the sake of the movement to protect total strangers seems like extra effort just to make yourself even more miserable, because you're needlessly bearing the weight of THE COMMUNITY on your shoulders. And while his question was certainly rude, something I learned doing a job in the service industry is that you can easily deflate that tension by giving them a calm, rehearsed, and very straight-to-the-point answer free of any jargon or scary-sounding words. Most people will just kind of back down and have a moment of realization because you just point out something they hadn't thought of before. And it actually feels good to do so, because you feel like you made a connection with a person, and taught them something new. They might even make a joke about it. Bam, you just allowed that person to empathize with your situation and hopefully they'll be more thoughtful in the future.

Putting in this melodrama around imagined scenarios will only stress you out further and probably give you ulcers or something.

TL;DR, it actually feels better to be polite with people like this and assume that they just don't know things rather than assume that they hate you and will hate everyone like you if you lash out at them.

One of these things is not like the others
Is it the sun comment or the trump thing? Sure, it's most likely the trump thing, but the fact this person said that we don't need sun 90% of the time and that it should die in a ditch forever is more concerning than the trump sign comment.
