I think some of it might have to do with the new girl being rather pretty, non-hipstery and feminie.

They literally look nothing alike. Aside from having different skin colors and hair texture and style, Moana also has thicker brows, smaller eyes, a wider and flatter nose, a wider and bigger mouth, and a smaller and less pointed chin than Rapunzel. Any "resemblance" is mostly like due to the art style.

It's like when Princess and the Frog came out and these same people were saying how much Tiana looked like a Belle clone, even though those two characters didn't look anything alike either. These people are idiots.

If you think they look alike, you need better glasses. Nose, mouth, and eyebrows are proportionately much larger, eyes are smaller, head is more round...and that's just my opinion from a first glance.

Also, enjoying the detailed hair. After staring at Gen Zed, it's so...detailed! And realistic! And not a red blobby mass stuck to the back of her head!

But she isn't fat, doesn't have 12 facial piercings, doesn't have puke green and Ronald McDonald color striped hair, doesn't have a gigantic ugly fucking bulbous nose, and altogether is kind of cute looking.

Obviously horrible art.

They also hated how Tiana turned into an animal for a chunk of the story and thought that was racist.
