The whole post is very stupid, but why conclusion is "I hate nerds"? LOTR movies are critically acclaimed by many people, not only "nerds".
Angry Birds movie may be just bad, but those all "anti-imigrants" messages people are trying to find in this toy-based animation are big exaggeration. And effect of bad timing, movie just premiered when discussion about immigration are "hot thing".
BTW, with tumblr obsession with over-analizing everything and comparising many stories to Spanish conquest, I'm really curious how they would react to Mysterious Cities of Gold.
They would probably lost their shit every time Mendoza shows up, because it's too hard to them that Spanish man could be in this story anything different than LITERALLY MONSTER and wouldn't get that his character is ambigous on purpose.

The majority of tumblr doesn't give a shit about Spain, except when it is to shit on it for the conqueror crap. Funny though the British did the same with their side of the Americas yet they don't have the same vitriol towards the UK that they have for Spain. In fact they're pretty teaboo-ish over anything british (tea, harry potter and sherlock).
EDIT: You'd think they'd be all over that Cities of Gold series since it stars POCs and is a fantasy series based on a POC culture (big reason why tumblrinas don't like medieval fantasy like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones is because "IT ONLY SHOWS WHITE EUROPEAN MIDDLE AGES!! GIMME MY AFRICAN FANTASY SERIES!!!")

Not really fantasy until the last few episodes, and they are more sf that fantasy, for most of the time it's historical Indiana Jones-like adventure. They seem to hate this kind of stories, because they are usually about white person traveling around the world.

I remember reading somewhere that before he died, Tolkien kept getting letters from fans about race. He said his works had nothing to do with that. He was actually surprised that serious fans would go out in public dressed as elves and over analyze his books. They target popular stories and attack the authors without bothering to learn anything about them.
