That and all the violence/iffy stuff that happens in Reylo is in the context of two characters who are enemy combatants acting pretty much how they'd be expected to act, not two characters supposed to be allies or friends.
Gonna sperg for a minute, but from what I've seen the people who are the biggest fucktards to Reylo shippers are Kylux shippers. Despite how they usually try and justify it by various buzzwords rambling about abuse apologism and shit, a vast majority of Kylux fic/art depicts the relationship as violently abusive, with one of the most popular AUs being about underage guro. So basically they have no ground to stand on bitching people out for shipping something "abusive" because they're the biggest abuse fetishizing fuckers around.
Imho it's just the age old thing of fans of a popular slash pairing getting butthurt that people ship a het pairing that involves half their m/m otp, just dressed up in tumblr-friendly buzzwords.
As a vaguely related side note, the term "space nazi" is apparently offensive and antisemitic according to tumblr.

The concept gets kicked around and rebranded sometimes in aromantic/asexual circles but most examples I can think of are scattered, old, and mocked by, you know, actual LGB people. At least, I can't think of any major championing efforts.

And the Tarzan thing is hilarious. they throw a bitch fit for the artist being accurate with the character's races, but they'll applaud really weird things like making European/"white" animal characters being drawn with vitigilio or making them latino (when the original movies suggest them to be Irish/White American coded more than anything).

You take just one two week break and suddenly all hell breaks loose; but I at least return to my favorite board with some drama offerings, courtesy of a former friend showing the usual level of Tumblr maturity re: vagueblogging and suicide threats for attention.
For some context, I just found out Bethesda was part of the team that made the new DOOM that just came out (being the kind of shithead who has a hardon for Bethesda games despite knowing they can be awful, I wanted it, but also being poor white trash, also knew I couldn't have it), so I was joking about how bad I wanted it in a group Skype chat with this friend:
I don't think anything of it; it isn't the first time the person's had anxiety problems and had to take a 'breather' of sorts. But then, this shows up on Tumblr:
So as usual, instead of communicating like an adult in private about your issues, you ragequit and passive-aggressively vagueblog about the person. I'm not even bothered or surprised at this point. I'm just disappointed.

Oh yes the "OMG FUCK LOVE TRIANGLES LET'S HAVE THREESOMES EVERYWHERE" kids are just horny tbh. It's their fetish that they honestly don't really grasp the big problems of poly relationships (jealousy, jealousy and insecurity everywhere) and how not every love triangle can be solved with lumping the three onto a bed at the end of the story.

TFA fandom is a clusterfuck tbh. While the dickery is usually slash shippers hating on Reylo fans, I've seen everything from aforementioned accusations of anti-Semitism thrown at people for using the term space nazi to people calling Kylux shippers white supremacists to someone saying if you see Kylo as anything other than pure evil you're a Columbine killer apologist. That's not even getting into the usual everyone is a genderbutt polysexual wolfkin whatever bs.
The Reylo shippers seem the be the best behaved out of any of them, from what I've seen they tend to keep to themselves and don't have nearly the tendency to try to start shit as everyone else (probably because they're already getting shat on by the rest of the fandom and because hardcore SJWs tend not to be into het ships).
Tl;Dr, tumblr turns star wars into wasteland of buzzwords, shipping drama, and thinly veiled yaoitard BS, in other news Pope still Catholic and water still wet.

The most amusing thing about the "Kylux" shippers is that Hux only got 5 minutes (literally) of screen time, and when he did show up, he & Kylo were arguing (sans the space Nazi speech scene).

Most of the time that's the explanation; sort of that "girls like bad boys" phenomenon taken to a very weird extreme. Not counting those who pull the abuse ship coping mechanism crap, anyway.
Though there are some saner individuals who just like to explore characters and their interactions; on both positive and negative sides of the spectrum. But those are much fewer and farther between.

Forgot to mention, I've also seen people try to justify Reylo=horrible cause abuse, Kylux=perfectly ok thing by literally saying it's okay for Kylo or Hux to be abused in a relationship because they're evil white guys. It was pretty special.

Personally I don't give a fuck what you ship (although the RPFs unnerve me in a 'potential bunch of crazyass stalkers' sort of way); at the end of the day all of this is fucking fictional and it doesn't even really matter anyway. The fact that Tumblr gets this pissy and hateful over how fictional characters bang is sad at best and terrifying at worst.
...although, Kylux bothers me personally because that's the ship that's hooked its claws into one friend of mine and she's already started to show that extreme kind of Tumblr brainwashing. Like she used to call them gay space nazis then stopped because it was explained to her how it was 'problematic'. I really hope she hasn't fucking drunk that Kool-Aid.

If she's one of the really rabid Reylo hating ones she's probably a lost cause. Best hope is that she'll loose interest in it when something new and shiny comes along (like most of these kids probably will).
I really, really want to drop everyone who gets up in arms about the term space nazi into my main fandom. Not only is that term probably the most common descriptor for a certain faction, but there's also a character who's more or less space Hitler (and is even compared to Hitler in canon).
And yeah, RPF is creepy as shit no matter the fandom. Something tells me if it were a bunch of horny boys and men writing porn about female celebrities they'd be singing a very different tune.

Has the "representation" side of tumblr tried to defend the creepy RPF fandom? I know they defend Mary Sues and Reader fics so I wouldn't be surprised they'd call this "empowering" or something.

I hear the kpop fandom on tumblr has a problem with people trying to insist various kpop artists are trans, so there's also that.

Don't remember whether I posted it here, but I remember seeing a fan of some band claiming that their headcanons about the band members were "representation" and/or "coping". They were in an argument with some other users who called it like it is, and eventually their responses just devolved into "anyway imagine trans boy (member) being taken care of on his period by (other member)".
I think the only people who are willing to defend RPF, though, are the people who actually participate in it. A lot of popular subjects of RPF (primarily Youtubers) have expressed their displeasure with it, so it's a lot harder for an outsider to defend than ultimately harmless badfics.

I feel like if they would at least admit those kinds of fics are shit even if they like them that would somehow be less...obnoxious? Rather than being so damn self-righteous about it being "empowering" and that little girls "need" Mary Sue fics because they don't have good characters for them to look up to. What's funny is that neckbeard-y guys basically do the same thing writing their own power fantasy shit and it's just as bad, but you don't see them defending that, now do you?
The thing that is ESPECIALLY creepy about RPFs is the way they push it on some of the actual people they write about. I know Markiplier is a common target for these people; he's been shipped with jacksepticeye. In one of his "reading your comments" vids someone actually asked him to read one of the fics of the two of the, and of course, it was porn. He sounded pissed off and exasperated.
