There was a 'controversy' about a black Stormtrooper, but it just amounted to a bunch of racists no one would give a shit about if they hadn't stopped fucking their cousins long enough to get twitter accounts, which then got picked up and broadcasted further as "OHMAIGAWD TEH RACISM OF WHITE MALE NERDS IS TEH WORST!11!" by Tumblr and clickbait sites. This is the difference between TFA and that shitty Ghostbusters remake. One of them was actually good and MRAs and Internet tards spazzed out about it being "SJW" when it wasn't and freaked out and didn't have any influence at all on its box office. They just made fools of themselves.

The other was an absolute piece of shit, and instead of advertising the film normally, they recruited SJW harpies to fly around shitting on everyone who said it looked like a piece of shit. Then it premiered, was exactly the piece of shit everyone said it was, and flopped.

In both cases, though, the box office ultimately was determined by the quality of the movie, not by hysterical shriekers, who nobody asks for their opinion on movies anyway.

There is actual, verifiable evidence to suggest all these elements exist and are important, so people normally accept all that in scientific contexts. "This data exists, therefore we must rewrite everything right now and think about it constantly for unspecified reasons!" is a huge leap of logic. No wonder this person isn't a STEM professor.
