There is actually one non-white character, Javert's Romani (and hated being born in a prison to thieving Gypsy scum so much he became obsessed with the law and then killed himself) I've not seen any tumblr art about that though, so I guess it's not as interesting as slapping a race-change and a blacklivesmatter t-shirt on a white chick.

Javert's an icky masculine police inspector, so of course they're not going to pay attention to him when there's plenty of Les Amis yaoi affirmative mlm fanfiction to write.

Also they clearly don't play enough video games. Skyrim let you have gay interspecies marriage and had at least one gay couple living on a farm in Dragonborn. Fallout 4 lets you hook up with any of the companions regardless of gender I think (I have a male friend who loves to romance Danse and a female player who's in love with her Sole Survivor and Piper). Hell, even Dragon Age: Inquistion, as obnoxiously pandering as that was, had that Dorian dude who was gay. But let's go even further back, ARCADE GANNON HAS EXISTED FOR SEVEN GODDAMN YEARS NOW. Everyone wants to rant about a lack of gays in games, but New Vegas had a canon gay AND a canon lesbian character to boot. And gay/lesbian seduction perks.

But I guess Arcade doesn't count because being gay wasn't the entire end-all be-all of his character, unlike that...charming caricature in your sidebar, huh?

Gay characters whose sexuality is offhandedly mentioned in favor of actual personality traits are actually a bad thing. They must be sucking cock at all times, otherwise they are homophobic. That makes sense, right?

Dragon Age has also had several bisexual male characters (Zevran in Origins, both Anders and Fenris in 2, and the Iron Bull in Inquisiton) and bisexual/lesbian female characters (Leliana in Origins, Merrill and Isabela in 2, Josephine (bi) and Sera (lesbian) in Inquisiton), and most of these characters have sex scenes. Their sexuality isn't their be all and end all, which is what tumblr wants. They want them to have big "GAY" stamps on their foreheads for some dumb reason.

tbh I think it's great that a lot of young adults are not being shamed for who they are and are seeing themselves in media more often but your sexuality is not your personality.
