This is the worst thing I've ever read.

The supposition that anyone is going to consent to be blinded and mutilated

anyway, there's no question that he's gonna be arrested within the next few years for kidnapping a bunch of poor souls and "modifying" them into one of his horrible fetish creatures. it's like the human centipede except somehow more disturbing.

You mean I can't come into your fancy restaurant with my pet human centipede?

Bullshit.

...does anyone seriously care about the sexuality of a dude from high school musical? It's fuckin high school musical. And when did they give Luke a love interest that wasn't his own sister?

I'm not even touching the top post

Why not reaffirmed?

Is that guy serious? I don't think there's an inherent link between "sexualization" and rape.

For example, look at Iceland. The rape rate is pretty high, yet they banned porn and strip clubs there. Now look at Spain or Canada: the rape rate is considerably lower.

Also last time I checked, the USA is far from "hypersexual."

For the longest time feminists have been crying that rape has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with violence (thus ugly women -- like them -- might be raped). Now rape is suddenly about sex again?

Some (male) comic artist made a comic about boys liking female heroes, and how it should be okay for boys to have female role models. All in all, sure, fair enough, like whatever characters are cool, same to anyone.

Mainly it stood out to me because of the final conclusion of the comic, and how that contrasts with tumblr's attitude towards girls "not being allowed" to like "boy things". So if a girl likes playing video games or sports or whatever, then it is bad to tell them not to like those things, as it's excluding women and is misogynistic.

What this comic ended on however, was: If a boy likes female characters or girl things, then it is bad to tell them not to like those things... as it will tell them that it's good to hate women.

Not a big deal, but I see a lot of this kind of "if it happens to women it's misogyny, and if it happens to men it's also misogyny" on this site.

Also, Matilda is awesome.

I... can't believe that it's not a joke account. But then again that's my response to most terrible or hideously embarrassing people online. I need to believe that they're either fictional or young teenagers that will grow out of it :optimistic:

I can agree with this comic's premise, actually. It's not unreasonable that looking down on a boy for thinking girl characters are cool might be reinforcing the idea that girl characters are beneath them, or at the very least that there's something wrong with boys that admire female characters. The comic also doesn't try to suggest that because the author admired female characters, that he aspired to be female himself. He seems comfortable enough being a boy, but feels sad that he can't find girls cool.

Tumblr often enforces gender stereotypes harder than most non-Tumblr types, hence why so many girls feel the need to be seen as "not girls" because they don't feel girly enough, or just don't want to be cis.

I know I was one of those girls who admired a lot of male characters like Luke Skywalker and Dr. Alan Grant and Agent J when I was a kid, and I experienced more alienation from other girls than I did from boys, who were usually pretty welcoming. I hadn't really thought about how tough it must be when the genders are switched.

It's a bit preachy as a comic but it did make me think a bit, so that's miles ahead of most of the comics that get posted to this thread.
