I like how whenever people mention that things involving ethnically European cultures tend to be mostly comprised of white people, or that a story based off of European mythology should have a white cast, they always say "I guess Europe never had a POC ever set foot in it or something" even though you just know they'd lose their shit if a white person ever got cast/involved in anything based on African or Asian culture/mythology.

Well, POC did set foot in Europe. They had slaves, you know. The answer is just to make sure to write in more slave parts.

That post is wrong on a lot of level. "someone wait for thousands of years for another person to come back" is like one of the most basic and common trope in stories. On top of my mind is fifth season of modern Doctor Who where
Rory wait 2000 years for Amy.
Pretty sure that the straights™ like this particular story.
Then there's the father from the newest Aquaman movie who wait for his wife who was imprisoned by Atlantis, which seems to be well-liked by the straights™... for a DCEU movie at least.
There's also this meme from Pokemon:

I don't know the context of that. But people memed it genuinely so the straights™ must've liked it.

Of course the main reason that the post is completely wrong is because of Hachiko. The famous dog that wait for his master that will never came because he died.

So according to this guy, the straights™ didn't like Hachiko? Didn't make two statues to honor it? Didn't produce two movies to honor it? Didn't broadcast a Futurama episode based on it? The straights™ didn't love Hachiko?

Maybe its just because I'm a dumb cishet, but I didn't read Spinel's relationship towards Pink as romantic in any way. Spinel isn't Pearl. The show already did a story about romantic abandonment with the same damn character (Rose), so not only would it be redundant to do again, but we already know what it looks like and the Steven Universe movie wasn't it. Pre-abandonment Spinel is also, as the tumblrites would say, "child-coded."

And I haven't seen a single person of any orientation question the plot point the post is referring to. So they're at most arguing with one actual person who hold this dumb view. Somehow that constitutes the "The Straights".

I always saw she and Pink Diamond's relationship to be "two best friends", ya know? Since she actually refers to both her and Steven as her 'best friend'.
