Autistic people don't automatically know how to help other autistic people. For example, I have a hard enough time dealing with normal people. If you dump me with someone else on the spectrum, I probably couldn't see areas that they'd need help in because I don't know what the "normal" baseline is, and on a bad day for either of us we'd sit staring at the floor for however long a therapy session would go.
Putting a bunch of autistic people in a room is like having a bunch of toy cars with pre-programmed paths all running in the same room. They'll all go the way they want to go, regardless if they crash into other cars along the way, bumping into each other and the walls with their tiny wheels whirring uselessly as they inevitably get stuck.
I say this from experience.
