that rubber is waaaaaay past its expiration date. I remember trying to use one of them (that was actually new at the time) for a slingshot and it plain did not work, not all that flexible or stretchy and worst of all it breaks when you least expect it. If you slice one to make thinner strips, you can see that rubber wasn't even homogeneous, it's chunky and has inclusions. Never mind that it gets real slippery when your hands are bloody.
