Infected RationalWiki - Whiny hugbox for spergs and a clusterfuck of neverending drama on a rapidly declining website.

I actually went through and read all 98 pages of this thread. What a ride that was, especially with such charming characters like Ryulong, Mona, Cuckstain, Hipocrite, the admin who enables these people, etc. Somewhere in the beginning, I decided to look at its Alexa rating.

There was that decline that is consistent with all the sane and rational being pushed out by edit wars and the general toxic behavior of our protagonists, but what has me wondering is that recovery going from April to May. From what I remember, Mona returned at that time, and you had her war against Cuckstain and others at that time, so it's a bit of an enigma. Then again, I am just seeing the bad on this thread, I have no idea if policies changed or if they calmed down a bit, or even if everyone started to avoid the controversial topics. However, it's been stagnant for July, even showing hints of another downturn.

Since 2013, Alexa's estimates wavered constantly between 28k and 18k. Simply: given how much shit has happened and how little it seems to impact Alexa, it's hard to distinguish noise from data.

TBQF, viewership correlates more with how much outsiders mention/link RationalWiki than what happens *on* RationalWiki -- because the vast, vast majority of viewers never click "recent changes" and never see if it's a shining utopia or stinking cesspit. EG: When Gamergate was a thing, RW (hated by GG'ers, used as OBJECTIVE PROOF that Wikipedia is biased) was up 10k ranks from now. As GG slid behind Trump, RW went down 10k ranks. Unsurprisingly, RW is not necessary to have sources on Trump. Or: wikidrama doesn't correlate well with wikiviews.

RationalWiki's Gamergate pages are conspicuously missing the recent drama of the Crash Override Network insider being outed as a creep and the Mombot doxing sting.

Kind of surprising none of the numpties tried to run damage control on those incidents like they did to cover up Nyberg's vast history of self-admitted pedophilia, but I suppose not mentioning it at all works about as well.

As pointed out in Geth's six part analysis of their claims page, whatever they couldn't spin or whitewash to make Gamergaters look like Hitler was blatantly omitted. Nyberg proved incredibly hard to whitewash, to the point David Gerard was forced to go full Ministry of Truth because the overwhelming amount of evidence against being able to whitewash the pedophile was just too much.

Before him, Ryulong was even less subtle.

And there was a large number of RW editors who wanted the Gamergate articles thrown out altogether. But with Gerard in charge and a whole bunch of active Ryulong meat puppets, that was never going to happen.
