Razzies 2021

I'm frankly surprised the entire Razzies list wasn't the name "Donald Trump" written 72 times. Hollywood is so fucking petty now.

The Razzies have pretty much lost the script. Their true purpose is to take pretentious movies created by A-listers or (starring singers with no acting talent trying to break into movies) and tear them a new one. When they leave out obvious movies that qualify for this treatment (like Mulan,) then it only indicates that the Razzies have become as rigged as Rotten Tomatoes.

Not as bad as past years, the 5 worst movies of the year are all fine picks but still many that don't make sense.
Robert Downey, Jr accent and the quality of the movie as a whole aside, his acting really wasn't close to being the worst of the year.
Anne Hathaway was good in the Witches to be honest, felt like that was the one of the few things people didn't shit on with that movie.
Glenn Close and Kristen Wiig weren't in good movies, but their acting really wasn't the issue with those movies.
Rudy Giuliani is pretty clear he was pick for political reasons, because you know he wasn't acting in that movie, if you want to pick people like him, just retitle the award to most hated person in a movie or something.

Why the fuck is Artemis Fowl not on this list? Or The War with Grandpa? Or Mulan?

And Bruce Willis deserves to win his award. I watched Hard Kill a while back and he clearly looked like he could give less of a fuck.

The Lone Ranger got nominated a while back, though.

They did say they were taking straight-to-VOD films into consideration. Didn't know they would go this deep, though. Artemis Fowl exists, you know.

You saw Music? How was the portrayal of autism in the film? People (Twitter) gave it flack for that.

This only goes to show how useless the Razzies being political is. You think Rudy Giuliani, Mike Lindell, D'Souza or Trump care about being nominated for anything? They're not actors or artsy Hollywood film directors. They're political commentators and politicians. They could care less. They're so interested in being political that other shitty movies don't get nominated. This is just a circlejerk at this point.
Music is portrayal of the tism is much worse than people thought it would be, kind of crazy what they did without spoiling anything

They’ve been very forthright about their political leanings as of late. Last year they made an award called “Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property” just to take the piss on good films like Joker and Dragged Across Concrete.

Joker was supposed to be an “incel” film that led to mass shooting.

Dragged Across Concrete was so politically incorrect that it was labeled a "vile, racist, right-wing fantasy" by the Daily Beast for a number of reasons:
  • It shows the police as wanting to help communities
  • It makes gangs (particularly black ones) and criminals look bad
  • There was a scene where Mel and Vaughn were wondering the gender of someone singing a song on the radio in a restaurant, and Mel says both men and women sound the same
  • Mel and Vaughn talk to their lieutenant on how being labeled a racist is terrifying especially for a policeman
  • A working white woman in the film is crying about the fact that she has to go back to work after her maternity leave and can’t hang out with her newborn son
  • Having “aggression” towards women and minorities
Even WhatCulture was confused by the nomination.

It feels as though voters just wanted to nominate Joker for the enormous social media publicity it would generate, and then shaped a dubious awards category around it. Dragged Across Concrete is an even weirder pick, though, both because of its low-budget nature and the fact that there's not that much carnage in it. Michael Bay's 6 Underground is clearly a far worthier nominee than either of those films, given how much obvious human collateral damage is racked up amid the chaotic action sequences.

What even is the point of the Razzies these days? Within days of a film’s release, I can go online and find all the opinions I want, from smart to dumb to funny. The Razzies can basically be summed up as, “Hey, remember that bad film that came out eight months ago? Pretty bad, wasn’t it?”

I see they’re still running that “worst screen couple BUT WAIT! THAT’S NOT A COUPLE!” joke into the ground.

What's the fucking point of a Remake, Prequel of Sequel category when nearly every fucking film that comes out belong to it?
Anyways Razzies are gay.

Wow, Music got fucking railroaded.

Wow, Music got fucking railroaded.
I haven't watched the movie, but seeing clips in reviews and by themselves was super uncomfortably uncanny. Can't imagine anyone sitting through it without grimacing at least once every time Maddie showed up, like holy shit she is such cringe. Making it a musical with weird-ass transitions to music numbers probably didn't help, either, but Sia winning Worst Director makes sense, especially after seeing her interviews and behavior on Twitter. Crazy bitch.

I said 365 Days was going to win at least one category, and it being Worst Screenplay I think is fair even though it'll end up being forgotten and just be quietly watched by bored housewives/spinsters to jill to.

This was a lame year for the Razzies anyway with a lame selection and categories, but they've been lame forever, so whatever. *dismissively raspberries and moves on*

It's not the selections that bother me, but rather this political shit they pull every once in a while. Rudy winning two awards here when he could honestly give less of a shit illuminate that.

Oh for sure, but the Razzies are still fused at Hollywood's hip, so it's no surprise they're doing the same exact thing as every other awards out there. The lack of "proper competition" must've made them blindly grasp for straws (or at least sift through clickbait articles) for something, anything this year.

There were movies released this year?
Yes. They all were telling us to stay home and not work while they were doing theirs.

Also, 2020 was really the longest year ever. I would have swore that 365 movie was older than that.

I SEE REEEEEED, REEEEEEED REEEEEEEEEED

I hate that they added this much political shit this year. I mean Rudy isn't even acting in the movie either.

Hell I'm just confused how Mike Lindell's video counts as a "movie".

Honeslty at this point anyone that says Hollywood is bias is lying to themselves

Let's not forget that they thought having a young girl in Blackface would fly in America and it looks so wrong when you actually see it. And going off of Maddie's performance as a whole, it comes off less like Autism and more like a budding serial killer in the making. Then again, no one in Music seemed to be acting, and more going through the motions (at best), or being complete shit (at worst).

Regardless, this year sucked with the Razzies more than usual. I mean sure there were some years they were on point (see Cats, Jack & Jill, Battlefield Earth, and Revenge of the Fallen), but they were always a heaping load with maybe one or two good noms. I'd argue they're worse than the Oscars, and that's already a shitshow.
