I would say it's the red oni/blue oni thing where two characters are such opposites in methods or morality that they wouldn't click in a relationship outside of smut fics or art.

Not sure if this is related, but I vaguely remember a Tumblr post from a few years ago that had a bunch of fictional male, gay ships (like Captain America x Iron Man, Sherlock x John, Castiel x Dean Winchester). It pointed out that a lot of them had one red-color-scheme character and one blue-color-scheme character.

I've learned a little about color schemes, and when you have opposite schemes for two characters (purple and yellow, red and blue, orange and green) they look a lot better together than similar ones (orange and red, yellow and green). Opposites attract, and all that. Not really anything to do with sexuality.

Then again, expecting Rortard to make sense is expecting way too much out of her.
