Usually SJW brats when they get accused of portraying POCs as ugly animals in their arts they pull out the "I'm a POC I look like that/my friend's a POC and they like it so it's valid uwu" card to get free of criticism.
I still feel the Rory discourse on tumblr hasn't been touched enough tho. Enough people complained about how she fetishized trans folks, but I've seen nobody rightly complain about how she draws latinos as these ugly hairy hambeasts. I guess tumblr don't care for latinos except when to rage against Trump and the gendered spanish language...
Not for lack of trying, honestly. Trying to avoid powerlevel, but I know someone who personally tried to call out Rory's racism against Mexican characters specifically (because they were actually Mexican and was rightfully appalled) but Rory's entire response was some passive aggressive tweet about how they're Mexican and therefore nothing they do can possibly be offensive to other Mexicans or some shit. I think the tweet was posted earlier in the thread.
I think the lack of backlash against Rory's racism has a lot to do with Tumblr's notion that you can't argue with anyone who claims they're pee-oh-see even if they're clearly just using it to get away with shit because white guilt or whatever.
Also Tumblr doesn't actually care about racism because most of the site is genderspecial white girls (which is why there was such a huge tantrum thrown over when South Park did the cissie episodes or whatever, even though they've been doing offensive shit since its inception.)

god every time I think I can handle whatever rory spits out next i'm always bewildered, as an illustrator I know there's a certain amount of exaggeration that goes into animation but this is just overkill, like back the truck up rev the tires and pull up again overkill.

I can kind of understand that Rory is upset about this. It's important to include sources when you repost art, yes, and it's DEFINITELY a good thing to ask for permission. But it's not alright to repost it when the artist says "no." Rory wasn't rude about denying the request, they just straight-up said "no."
Not to mention that it's incredibly rude to say "okay, I understand" and then go ahead and do it anyway.
I can sympathize because I've had my art reposted without source to foreign websites with comments on them that I couldn't read, which was frustrating, since I'd missed out on feedback, to name one thing.
