Artcow rcdart / Rory Cummings-Dise - Tranny Fetishist who Torpedoed a Potential Animation Career

Yes, look at all these lovely transmen.

I'm willing to bet that this ugly ass style is made like this just to be able to use a lazy-ass rig for the animation, just look at those legs, i've only done FBF animation so far but animating them seems so fucking simple its sad... sacrificing aestethics that much so you can shit out an ugly final product faster doesn't seem worth to me...

Also what the fuck @ that strawberry character... Almost no use of the concept, the figure is barely different from the rest despite being a FUCKING STRAWBERRY and the design is all around ugly... Seriously what is wrong with cartoons nowadays...

Oh Christ, I didn't expect it to be that lazily done. I could maybe understand the low framreate if she was trying to do lots of complicated poses, or intense action, but this is just utterly half-assed. I've seen 13 year-olds put more effort into their silly Youtube oc animations than this girl's art school assignment.

God, she has such a hard-on for Nicki Minaj. I'm guessing the assignment was to make a short music video? I'd really love to see some of her classmates' work, and their reaction during critique. Might have been one of those awkward ones in which they had to think really hard for a positive comment.

Afterthought: I wonder why Rory is pursuing animation? It doesn't seem like she's very passionate about it, judging from the criminally low amount of effort invested into it. I feel like there must have been at least one or two illustrations of her's that shined, but I see zero in her animated works thus far.

She's passionate about it like Chris was passionate about Sonichu, because she's an egomaniac with no self-awareness.

The frame at the end suggests that she's going to put this in her calarts portfolio, which is sad. This is like a subpar newgrounds flash animation made in 2006, not something you'd show to studios hoping to land a job.

To be fair, Calarts animation students have been known to be overworked. Even so, this is just... incredibly lazy for a Calarts student. Calarts is difficult but the animation program even more so, you have to have a great deal of wherewithal to really get shit done and pass.

Rory made a film recently in a week. It's all about rich people's pet cats.

It looks like one of those MSPaint fanime productions, stiffness and random face closeups galore.

One positive thing to say about this:

I really liked this image for reasons I can't really explain. I think it might be due to the ridiculous levels of floof.

The concept for the video could work but it really needed more effort put into it.

I get it; animation's hard, I've done it before. And honestly with my skills right now I'm pretty sure I couldn't do better in a week. But how is it that she shits out something like this when there are other students pumping out such better projects.

This is a film done in the same class as her, where everyone had a week to produce something. Now I'm not saying it's some magnum opus or anything; it's clearly not. It was done in three days after all, but it's certainly a lot cleaner, more pleasing to the eye, and has an actual story going on.

... maybe it's the aforementioned "she is just not passionate for animation at all" deal, or maybe she's just a very slow learner and doesn't want to admit it because that would mean she's not better than everyone else. The horror.

Speaking as someone pursuing animation, I can say that I've seen a lot of people who are pursuing animation who are 'passionate' about it without knowing what IT really entails. They see the end result of animation: the cartoon shows that they themselves enjoy, the accolades that said shows get from their fans, the devout fanbases that produce tankard upon tankard of fan theories and such.

They want that and have no interest in the actual process. They don't ever digest that actual good, praiseworthy animation has hours and hours of effort poured into just a few meager seconds of the show (never mind the effort in preparing to make those few meager seconds). They don't digest that a well made animated feature can take years to complete with the combined effort of the animators, directors, producers, and more. Even Hanna-Barbara with its limited animation still had the walkcycles, and depending on the character those could be up to 24 frames. I can't see a single thing in Rory's video that's over maybe five to seven frames long.

Rory isn't actually 'passionate' about animation, so of course her final product looks like shit. I guarantee she'll drop out of animation once quality control starts becoming an issue. Which leaves the question of what she'll decide to do after that.

My best guess is shabby graphic designer or illustrator. That's what most people I've seen online and at art college irl do when they realize they don't have the chops for animation.

I watching Rory week film along some her classmates week film and previously semesters. Rory is one of disappointed film along with a old classmate of mine who got in Calarts. The difference between her and Rory is that old classmate acknowledge too much in her Comfort zone and wants improve it this semester, Rory doesn't. Rory still in too much in her Comfort zone. Comfort zone is basically the enemy of improvement
