^"Sonichu" was mostly about the artistic satisfaction it gave him, and less about the potential moolah he'd make correct?

Chris drawing Sonichu was always about him living out his fantasies and allowing himself to get the last word in on things that he wouldn't be able to in the real world. Early on I'd say Sonuchu was equal parts artistic satisfaction and ego stroking with a dim idea that he could make it a household name. Later on though I think he was drawing simply to act out his power fantasies. Him marketing and selling his comics was something he wanted sure, but only if it was handed to him and he really didn't have to do any work for it.

Sonichu Issue 4 was the turning point. Before that, the stories were legitimately about Sonichu and Rosechu, with the sub-episodes set aside to feature Chris's struggles. Then his mother asked him to stop doing the sub-episodes, so he made Sonichu 4 as a compilation of them for a grand finale. However, it was also 50% new content. Sonichu 4 is the first time that Chris rewrites an event that actually happened in his life to show him coming out on top (being ejected from Walmart), and it marks the first appearance of Crystal Chandler.

I think that writing all that stuff about himself, combined with no longer being able to do the sub-episodes, put Chris in a mindset where he decided to make the mainline Sonichu comics about himself. My guess is that he found writing the sub-episodes therapeutic, and didn't want to give that up. If he had been allowed to continue the sub-episodes, I suspect that the comic probably would have continued on its original trajectory, at least for longer than it did. Chris would likely have eventually turned the focus of the comic to himself, but Sonichu was written so in-the-moment that it would have likely been a wildly different version.

I wonder about this. Was Barb actually trying to offer constructive criticism, or was she just trying to get Chris to stop babbling about Sonichu and shit? How much interest did she take in the comics, especially the early ones before Chris went full re.tard?

I'm pretty sure Barb wanted Chris to stop depicting his real life failures and clashes with society. That's okay, the internet picked up where he left off.

Barb's as dumb as Chris. She wouldn't know good art if you rolled it up and slapped her in face with it (supposedly purloined Salvador Dali painting notwithstanding). The only reason Barb chimed in was to probably stop Chris from detailing elements of their personal lives.

While we'll never know for sure, I expect this was the reason for Barb asking him to stop doing the sub-episodes.

Interestingly enough, as far as I'm aware, her ending the sub-episodes is the only time on record that she chastised Chris in any way. I'm guessing that Bob was completely in the dark re: Sonichu, since it seems like Chris rarely spoke to him about such things.

I'm betting that he just didn't care at that point. Considering he seemed to be the one who got after Chris the most, he was probably just tired of having to deal with Chris and simply said "Fuck it all, I don't care, I'll be in my greenhouse".

My big trolling plan is to someday see 14BLC with my own eyes. Yep, I'm gonna actually drive to boring Ruckersville and see the Chandler house with my own eyes.

And if it ever happens, it'll just happen. Nobody here will stop me. Nobody here will know about it.

If a troll trolls and no one is there to see it, is it still trolling?

I have the same fantasy though, in fact I'd like to come across a wild Chris some day in his natural habitat (ie. at McDonalds).

AUGH YEAH living the dream!! Also good to know there was no smell I would have to try and deal with.

Someday I might dial the phone number of 14BLC. I'm not gonna go "I'M BATMAN!" or anything, I just want to see if anything happens.

No trolling plans
And that is enough said. Trying to troll Chris would mean the would-be troll is a :ween:. Chris has changed. He isn't like he was back in say 2008 when he still wore the striped shirts.

I'm still very curious about what Chris has going on in his life. I think that rather than trolling him, we should just be kind and friendly, gain his trust with no trolling motives.
