Ready or Not - The 2nd video game to let you flash bang a small child

The official discord is probably getting more filtered than the average Chinese webcafe for questions that don't put the devs in a bad light. I put in a few, but I have zero doubt that they won't get answered.

It's telling that they're not doing this on a more traditional venue like Reddit and r/AmA or even the game subreddit.
The only part of the community the devs interact regularly are the discords, because its alot more of a echo chamber, i dont think theres been a single day thats gone by on the reddit with a complaining post getting a decent amount of upvotes, where as i bet if you were even a fraction as upset on the discord you'd get muted for shouted down.

Considered asking about AI and why it seems to only get worse every update, but i decided against it since i knew i would get ignored.

Picked it up and have been enjoying coop, but havent played single player or online mode. Encountered some minor glitches with ragdolls and lighting. Occasionally get high latency spikes and rarely disconnects, so the net code needs work. Most annoying think right now is the AI and how some can pull a 360 turn and one shot you in the head in under a second. The game is a lot of fun and seriously promising.

Anyone having issues with damage?

I just hit a guard on valley of the dolls with two slug shells nearly point blank and he just shrugged them off

There's trouble building in the subreddit and discord. A guy named McDewgle made a video:
that goes into some in depth exploration of the game's broken as shit AI including timing their reactions against competitive shooters with decades of experience (spoiler: the game AI is three times as fast as a competitive shooter). As you can imagine, this did not sit well with community mods and the video and McDewgle were banned from both Reddit and the Steam discussion forum.

He was unbanned from Reddit, but not from Steam, and there's been a simmering undercurrent of defiance from redditors who seem intent on getting an answer, which appears similar to pulling teeth.

If you don't want to watch the video, the basic gist is that suspects in RoN will almost always respond in ~250ms, or 1/4 of a second, in most cases regardless of their facing or alert status. 250ms is approximately the time it takes for the brain to process visual stimuli, even though the actual time it takes for a human to process stimuli and make a decision on what to do about it is quite different. Jerry Miculek, a professional shooter, takes about 1.75 seconds, to go from buzzer to draw to shooting a target and he's making no decisions in the mean time.

This is further compounded by sloppy animation work. There are numerous clips on Twitch and YouTube where players are confronted by AI that appear to be doing one thing, like running, but suddenly switch to a hostile action while still carrying out a non hostile animation. Combined with the extremely inconsistent RoE, the optimal way to play the game is by flashbanging every room to force compliance instead of trying to play the game as intended.

(Removed for length)
AI will probably be shit for a while sadly, seems like the devs can't line out how to make it not unfair, the subreddit is starting to be a lost cause, that last bastion of sanity for the fanbase and its losing to the sunk cost fuckers who paid 120 bucks and refuse to believe void is still a shitty company who have barely changed over the last 5 or so years.

To the credit of said faggots, the sub reddit has a issue with people complaining about "broken" AI when they are just shit at aiming, so AI is a real issue that is often times used as a excuse for just missing shots. I hope RoN can line itself out, or at least give out better modding tools so the community can fix voids fuck ups.

EDIT: reading on the steam thread, op was banned off steam possibly not for the comments regrading supporter branch and the job listing, but other things they said (please note this is the steam janny saying so, so its a he said she said thing and nothing concrete)

Screenshot 2022-08-18 at 02-02-34 A very well put together video analyzing the AI issues and p...png

The Steam jannys are bigger dick riders than pretty much anyone except the reddit mods and have a much larger sunk cost. RoN has been on Steam for years and only went into early access because they were told by steam to put up or fuck off.

EDIT: there is definitely an aspect of people complaining about the AI when they can't aim for shit, but it's very easy to tell against the AI actually being John Wick. Especially if you've ever seen them side step run while literally hipfiring and still manage to land multiple headshots on multiple officers while moving as fast as Usain Bolt.

EDIT 2: It also occurs to me that you can easily see how the AI's targeting functions if you let them shoot someone with a shield for a few seconds. First rounds with impact the shield and after about 2 seconds they'll be drilling the viewing slot like a laser.

Finally got around to watch the video. Man, the AI is more broken than I thought. Part of me hopes they managed to hire that new AI dev and he can fix this mess, but another part of me has given up on this game.
I'm sad about the fact, two of my favorite genres, tactical shooters and modern combat flight simulators, are now nearly extinct and the remaining specimen are in the hands of incompetent dev teams. Ready or Not is falling into the same pitfall, Eagle Dynamics did with DCS. Create endless content, to keep interest, but never get around to fix core issues.

This genre is so fucked now isn't it? Please tell me there is a way to play/download/torrent SWAT4

Void has announced they are using Mod.io for the games modding browser instead of the original steam workshop plan, they claim this is due to issues with steam workshop (fully believable), and this will probably be a feature in the next update (no one knows WHEN it is)

Most of the dev stuffs been boring, they are replacing the m4 with a mk18 and i think they've showed off some new maps.

Replacing the M4 is fucking retarded. What if I want to roll a basic bitch AR?

Double post again. The 41st bi weekly Devlog dropped and its about Mod.io, It releases on the 18th for ALL players, it won't be locked to supporters for a month and then drop with just as many bugs as before, but on release it wont properly support weapon replacers, Only maps properly work, why are void pushing the update with only maps working and not the vastly more popular weapon mods? Who knows , void have never been the most logical company.
In the Steam discussion a void mod/dev mentions how mod.io will allow them to more easily make mod support work on other platforms, implying they are planning to release ready or not on other store fronts and maybe consoles. Reddit discussion is mostly negative to the news, with a few modders saying they will keep their mods on nexus, but we will all see how it goes down on the 18th.

Ok so mod.io rundown for those who don't know, its a system sorta like steam workshop but can only be accessed in game, but it isnt limited to one platform, games like Insurgency Sandstorm and snowrunner use it since they are on multiple platforms, and mod.io allows for modding on consoles. Mod.io is not regarded highly, with it being blamed for the death of sandstorms modding scene and generally being forgotten as the red headed step child of game modding, void picking mod.io is a odd choice and plenty of theories are being thrown around, some say void got paid off, some say its because they want to release on consoles, its a bit of a mess right now.

Mod.io released on the 18th and has been a failure, claims on the RoN subreddit range from it just being annoying to work with to it literally bricking peoples games, with reports of it getting stuck in endless loops of downloading and restarting. Mod.io has been a failure, but good news seems a Halloween update is in the works, will it be a big update or will it be a small patch with minor features and patches? Its void its going to be the latter and it will be utterly broken on launch.

I haven't touched the game for months. It seems the devs are incapable of rolling out major bug fixes and improvements and stick to useless content updates. Real pity, because I had high hopes for the game.

I'm in the same boat. Haven't touched the game since August since I got tired of needing mods to fix the AI. It's especially galling that RoN has such an issue with AI when Ground Branch, a game on the same engine and in pre-alpha, has a much more fleshed out AI configuration tool built into the games UI.
