Ready or Not - The 2nd video game to let you flash bang a small child

That's a pretty big dickpunch on maps with long-distance engagements like the auto dealership. Hopefully it's ironed back out soon.
Yeah it's not great. What my friends and I generally do is just yeet 40mm at them, shout, and if they don't surrender just shoot them

I haven't noticed the ROE infractions you guys are talking about in this patch. Only time I've really seen unauthorized use of force is if someone shot a suspect in the back so far.

Anyone with actual experience knows it's not right, but it's a video game and they can only bow to realism so much before it's not fun. You know what else a SWAT team doesnt do? Touch or collect evidence, yet it's a requirement in the game and has been brought up before, but likely isn't going anywhere. The ROE is completely fucked from a real life perspective but they have to have some governing rules to make the game.. gamey.
Could be re-spun as you "tagging" evidence as part of future testimony instead of picking it up.

That's what CSI and Forensics are for.

I mean I don't mind it, game has to have some way to keep score.
Could be framed as a "as we entered I saw..." testimony type of thing, hinted at, as part of the gameplay as opposed to stuffing bags of meth down your pants.

What makes me laugh are all the three day assault packs everyone's wearing for a single mission. Dudes are kitted up like they're about to assault a Taliban stronghold.

So since the June update is out , anyone wanna take bets on what the next update will feature?

I think its a safe bet it will feature the new Suspect and civilian models for some of the maps, but will fast food finally be finished? will we see more test maps or will the devs work on finishing the blockouts in game first?

I'm hoping Taco Bell will finally be finished, more AI tuning, and finally a look at the school map.

School is probably still a bit off , my bet is earliest look late this year if not 2023, school is gonna be a bitch to make without gaining alot of ire, especially with the robb shooting a month or two back. I actually hope (but highly doubt) that modding gets some love next update with new features , hopefully the ability to make whole new weapons.

I snagged both of the most popular AI mods on the Nexus for some testing and I think the mod authors don't get it either. The modified AI surrenders to the slightest loud noise. Going through Valley was "shout, arrest five guys, fire one shot" then rinse and repeat.

I get that most of the usual suited private security guys would probably give up if a SWAT team rolled in, but a single shout gets guys to stop shooting and surrender, even ones patrolling the basement who have the least inclination to surrender because of the inevitable "he slipped and fell on these bullets getting into the back of the van" treatment for being complicit in that kind of criminal behavior.

Yeah, AI mods aint perfect either. I used to tweak the parameters myself, to fine tune suspect behavior, but now the .pak file is so big, it takes ages to reinject the .ini file. I haven't looked it up yet, how to create a smaller .pak, which can be used as a mod.
Yeaterday I played two rounds on Valley, without AI mods/tweaks. On the first go, they were extremely aggressive, seeking the team out, refusing to surrender. I died, because one of them was one level below me and shot me through the floor.
On the second try, they mostly stuck to their original positions and didn't use wallhack. This time I used CS nades almost exclusievely, which seems to be the only thing that makes the AI willing to consider giving up. I managed to get an A rating.
The AI is very incosistent between playthroughs. I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one hand randomness is needed to enable replayability, on the other hand the difference shouldn't be this big. It feels like AI skill is based on RNG.

The shooting through the walls/floor thing needs some tweaking because I've seen a LOT of deaths due to AI heat seeking bullets through solid objects.
On the other hand, it just tickles me right of someone shooting cops through a fucking floor during a No Knock.

Don't get me wrong, it's scary fun to see bullets rip through drywalls, but they really need to tweak the accuracy and ballistics in these scenarios.

A kind guy made a tool, which makes tweaking AI easier and you can even generate a unique mod with your settings.
I haven't had the time to test it yet, plus I seem to get the hang of the new vanilla AI. Basically, I just CS absolutely everything and everyone gives up.
It looks promising though.

You can find it here.

I've played around with it. What I've found is that by nerfing the Overall Suspect Health to 75% their original values, they feel a lot more like they were before the update. The Terrorists on the Hospital that my friend shot four times in the groin are now two-shots to center-mass with a shotgun at a similar distance. The suspects on the Porn House were still pretty spongey towards pistol rounds, but considering they have vests its to be expected. Finally, SMGs are no-longer the useless trash they've become since the update.

I hope they introduce better wounding system in the future for AI, instead of this static value. If they get hit in the arm, they shouldn't be able to aim well, if one of their legs get shot, they should limp, or even get completely crippled. Armor should also be more than a health buff. I believe this is necessary for a game like this, because these static values provide a rigid framework, so ammo types and armor cannot be simulated properly as a result.

I'm not sure, I haven't pulled apart the game files yet, but I have a suspicion that Void forgot to make some amount of level geometry opaque to AI vision. Valley has multiple places where we get consistently wall banged across multiple runs
